holy crap! I disabled shadows after reading your comment, framerate locked at 60, where as before it would dip into the high 20's. amazing, and amazingly poor optimization...the shadows aren't that impressive to begin with.
what are these superior technologies you speak of?
I never played it on console, but I did pick it up on steam a while back when it was on sale. I does seem like a rather shoddy port, though I haven't given it too much of a chance due to other games taking up my time. One of the few games on pc that as soon as I started playing it thought "damn, should have gotten this one on the console."
So they are telling me, that my computer, which head over heels out performs my ps3 in multiplats, can't run this game on the lowest settings. How is the ps3 gonna do it? And if you say optimization, they could do the same for the pc.
Yeah, I'd start out in the wasteland running a smooth 45-60 fps, after about 15 minutes goes by (I assume memory leaks or something) down to around 10-20 fps. Exit game, load a save, and back to the high frame rate. It was quite annoying.
Kinect fans always bring up the 3d motion tracking. what exactally is this? y-z axis? can't any camera tell if something is closer or farther just by focus? Even if kinect has some fancy 3d motion whatever it is, how exactly is that being incorporated into games? What does that even mean for games? Isn't facial recognition all software based? Crappy digital cameras that cost half of kinect have it...and regardless, what does this mean for games? In my opinion, nothing. I just do...
Someone else said this, sorry I can't give credit, but "Graphics bring people in, and gameplay keeps them there." I think this is pretty on point.
I think the biggest thing killing APB was the announced monthly fee/micro transactions. Not sure on what the costs actually came out to though, cus as most people, I dropped the game off my radar when that was announced.
You know, I do kind of agree with you. It is pretty similar. But let me ask you this: How many people have wanted a new HD(ish) version of Eye Toy with more shovelware games? How many people have wanted a new HD version of the Wii with more hardcore games? There is the difference. No market has expressed the desire for a Kinect like product. Many people have asked for a Move like product.
Pretty sure it came out on pc too...In fact, I think it came out almost 8 months earlier on PC than PS3.
unlimited streaming and 1 movie out at at time is only about $9 a month, been using that almost 2 years
Once it hit me that my ps3 didn't have this, I thought it was so obvious. Include a LCD readout display on the front. I have never seen a dvd/blueray player without one. Would be quite convenient for showing times in a movie, a clock, track numbers etc... Could even program it to work with games to show what level/ map name you are on.
Lol, "including warranties". You must be the same type of person that goes and buys the $2000 prebuilt rig that you could have made yourself for $700. Computer sales people must love you. FYI, any computer warranties you buy are a rip-off. If parts are defective you'll know within the return period, if not they last unless you don't take care of them. And there is always the manufacturer's warranty - that's free :)
Wow. I skipped out on MW2, but this...This looks awful. Almost like MW meets Duke Nukem. All it was missing was cheesy one-liners when people die.
This is a pretty poorly researched article. NCSoft has announced Exsteel is shutting down sept 1st(before this article was written), and LOTRO has not gone free to play yet (beta testing sure, but hasn't launched). I dont' know how much credit I can give this guys opinion for the "ten best f2p mmos" when he obviously doesn't even play them.
It wouldn't be hard to beat any of the previous halo's. All they need to do is make sure the mission/level structure isn't repetitive (the only bad thing about halo 1) and PUT IN A COMPLETE CAMPAIGN STORY WITH NO CLIFFHANGERS. That cliffhanger made me hate halo 2, though 3's wasn't as bad.
The MacOS has about a 20th or less of the games available than on Windows. True, when you find a game on both platforms they are usually the same. But there aren't alot of games on both.
I dont think the point is necessarily that they are bad games, just that the ORIGINAL concepts/builds were much better, but then the games or gameplay had to be cut and changed to fit budgets, time constraints and console power. If they had pulled off the original visions of these games they could have been INCREDIBLE, not just ok to mediocre.
Has Bethesda even been working on a new Elder Scrolls, or has all their time gone into Fallout 3 and DLC?
I think digital distribution should distribute things digitally in the future. Seriously, what kind of question is that?
