Don't they have a racing game for it? You get to steer left and right while the car drives on cruise control.

You do understand that kinect is just an input device right?

"If Kinect ran Metro 2033 and looked like the PC version on maximum detail and running 60fps"

Kinect won't make any game run/look better. Its like saying "Oh boy, I just bought a fancy new gamepad, i hope all my games start running at 60fps now."

That would actually work terribly. It "may" be able to follow your head a little, but most of your tracking is done with your eyes, which Kinect will not be able to track. Seriously, even if it could precisely track your head, sit there for a minute and move your head around like your nose is the crosshair while staring straight ahead at a specific point (the tv)...No really, try it, I'll wait.

Now tell me how you feel after even 5 minutes of that.

Yeah, this doesn't make sense. Its a peripheral, they took out the processors...there is nothing for it "to do/process" other than accept input. It's like saying current games have only used my keyboard, mouse or gamepad to 30% of their potential. You aren't going to all of a sudden see a game come out that makes my mouse dpi higher, my keyboard type faster etc.

@nick
you can't compare power to power, because kinect isn't a computation...

I'm just now playing through Dragon Age Ultimate edition on PC, and I'm not quite sure why you're calling it a dumbed-down lite casual rpg. While I haven't played new vegas, I did play the original fallouts 1-3, and I dont' see them being any more hardcore.

Maybe I'm really out of the RPG loop at this point, but what makes dragon age so dumbed-down and casual?

I think the more important number is consoles in home, which we can never know for sure. However, if you calculate the assumed failure rates you can start to get an idea of which is probably in the lead.

ie: I personally count for 3 xbox360 sales and 1 ps3 sale though currently have only one operating ps3 in my home.

He's comparing Kinect games to iPad games.
"then they must already own a 360.....which has hundreds of games". Right, they may have hundreds of games, all of which don't require Kinect, again, giving no reason to buy it.

Game was finished for its original November(?) release, but they pushed it back to Jan so it wouldn't have to compete with other games. Its been gold for a while though.

This is true, but at the same time, anyone who thinks Kinect is selling out everywhere hasn't been to walmart or best buy yet.

Where did all these console games without installing, patches, and gamma configurations come from? You may not know anything about PC gaming, but it is quite "plug and play" nowadays.

Well, an 8800gtx will still run most games fine at 1080p, med-high settings. A few generations behind, but still not shabby.

Please don't say "Xbox Off" while Kinect is saving.

Voice control is nothing new for consoles. Mario Party 6 for the gamecube came with a mic. You used it for giving speech orders in some of the minigames. Regardless, its all in the software as long has you have some kind of mic. You don't need any fancy hardware for voice control.

Not to mention that these images are compressed to hell and back. Hardly decent enough for accurate/adequate comparisons.

I always loved DLC, until consoles came around and developers though "Oh snap, we could charge EXTRA for this!". Thats when it all went down hill :p I think the 360 pioneered paid DLC, followed by the PS3, followed by angry PC fans everywhere ;)

I could be mistaken, but they Vietnam expansion is multiplayer maps only. I don't think they added anything to the story/single player aspect.

At the same time though, if they spend that money on making a great game the advertising will take care of itself. How many ads for Counter Strike have you seen? And WoW had what, around 8-9 million active subs before they started their TV ads in 2007? If you make a great game word of mouth will get you sales. It seems that too many companies are developing crap games, and spending nearly as much on ads as development to make sure they sucker enough people into covering their costs.

Multiplat Battlefield 3 would be some of the most disappointing game news ever. Seriously.

I play alot of BFBC2 on pc, and wonder if this game will bring me back to the old BF2 days.

On a side not, I never before noticed the lack of blood in BFBC2 until i just saw the red mist spraying off the guys in this video :)
