With one notable exception - Fight Night Round 3.
Next-gen games from EA have been a steady stream of titles with pared down "features" so that they can sell us the same crap for the next 5 years and put "new features" in every year's game.
Madden was pretty for sure on the 360, but I played my copy on PS2 more frequently.
NBA Live was awful, Tiger Woods was a port from the current gen with nicer backgorunds and fewer courses, N...
But the PSP DID fail at least when it comes to introducing a Sony proprietary media format for watching movies (UMD) to the market....
Doesn't that sound a little familiar?
What was one of the PS3's big selling points all along? Oh yeah, a proprietary media format for watching movies (BD)...
<tongue-in-cheek moment>
Of course, that was back when the PS3 was still a media center. Now it is a PC, so I guess things could be different.....
I agree with the fact that many households require multiple PCs...but that is what happens when I upgrade my motherboard and main PC. I don't have need for pseudo-PC's because I am upgrading my main PC every 4-5 years anyway and I have a whole stable of PCs already in my home.
My hand-me-down PC's are distributed to my family. My wife has last generation PC for internet and databases and recipes and whatever the hell eslse she needs it for and my kids have my two-generation o...
Silly Rabbits....AL GORE invented teh internet....don't any of you keep up with American politics??? LOL
On topic comment - PS3 has now been a) a game console, b) an "expensive toy", c) a media center and now d) a PC. I'm sorry, but if I lready have a PC (decent but not blazing), a media center (in my home theater with everything already networked and multi-room distributable via my receiver) and a game console (three of 'em in PS2, XB and XB360), then why again do I...
Since I have always been a hard core Madden player, the release of NCAA and MAdden usually fills my summer and fall gaming fix, then the holiday releases come out and I have more games than time again...
"your post made no sense what-so-ever... Did you even read the article?"
- no, I was taking an admitted cheap shot at MGS series and making fun of the hiding in a cardboard box mechanic of a much earlier game. If you weeren't so in tuned to defending the honor of the PS3, you might have noticed that...
I'll stop the selective quoting and answering there....no need to keep it going. The original post saidin its title that it was an admittedly cheap shot and by...
Stop. Just stop.
Either that or will a mod please ban this guy's account (ssj04) already?
He rarely if ever has anything other than flame baiting in his responses and is quickly getting back to the tone that the boards were redesigned to eliminate.
For god's sake, just look at the posting guidelines and you can find three reasons to ban him from almost any one of his recent posts. (irrelevant spamming of threads, personal attacks and vulgar if chi...
Oh, and just another useless thought here....but how exactly is a visual effect that allows the user to "melt into the environment" - ie. become INVISIBLE, or seen yet another way, NOT SHOWN ON SCREEN AT ALL - how is that exactly "only possible on a PS3"?
C/mon, peoples, use your minds for more than an echo chamber of marketing hype from time to time....that is one of the most brainless, meaningless hype-only comments of all time.
The exact smae would h...
Man, that would be so cool....using a gimmick controller to find new ways to stealthily use.... A CARDBOARD BOX!!!!! That remains to this day the single lamest thing I have EVER seen in a videogame, ever.
Now before people go getting all crazed about it - yes, Hideo Kojima can make detailed games, and yes, many, many people find them very compelling. I personally do not, but that is just an opinion.
If he can find a way to make a motion-sensitive controller functio...
The real answer is unknown...
One will put in the bulb.
Another will tell him how much better the light would be if they had used HIS bulb instead.
A third will tell them both that light is overrated and its not the "quality of light" that matter as much as the things you can do in that light now.
Finally, unknown, annonymous trolls will come out on internet forums and viciously attack all three forever.
Seriously SSJ, who are you trying to convince?
You posted the article.
Then you posted comments about it.
Then you posted a "rebuttal" link.
Then you flamed.
Then you apologized.
Now you theorize about how great it all will be...
Dude, seriously, that is a classic cry for attention. Please get the appropriate consueling soon.
On topic - what difference does it make anyway? The system is sold to those who want it,...
Don't forget those are Japanese history-based Giant Crabs and you need to attack its weak spots for massive dammage....that video clip of the Sony Press conference was some hysterical stuff.
I don't know who did the long version (the one with the Rhinoceros grazing in it) but that was seriously funny stuff...
Now I am not the world's biggest fan of MGS games (just think the plots are too crazy to be fun and I have never recovered from the idea of sneaking past someone while wearing a cardboard box too take it all that seriously - (maybe to my greater loss, but it is what it is...)but I think it is very likely Sony took offense to Hideo's earlier interview stating that MGS4 could easily have been on XB360 and "convincing" him that he should temper those public statements.
May...
I find it better than the original version by a mile...nice work.
do you honestly believe that because a demo version of a game or a pre-rendered scene can be displayed on a dev-kit at E3 that it has any bearing on the real-world performance of the EventualStation? The thing may have bugs that the developeres know full well about and intentuionally did NOT show at E3 - I mean why would you unless you wanted to fail massively?
The fact is that NOTHING was at E3 on a fully functional and final production model PS3 because they still haven't made...
I've never been a big fan of racing games. I tend to stick with my sports titles and a few FPS'ers, but this does look very interesting. I kind of felt like PGR3 was a bit too "arcadey" to me and haven't been totally blown away by either Test Drive's demo or Burnout revenge's demo, so maybe this will get me into the racing genre...
I already have my 360 and I have been waiting for a compelling reason (ie - a group of games that I personally want to play and won't ever be available to the 360) to get the PS3.
As cool as this game looks to me, and make no mistake I think only fanboys can look at it and say that it completely sucks, this game is not enough for me to get the PS3 at launch. For that to happen, the games need to not only look and play better than what I have already on the 360 (and I LOVE GRAW and ...
sumnaztee - I see your points, but I honestly believe MS is banking on two things heavily for this generation of consoles:
1) HD-DVD / Blu-Ray format war NOT ending quickly. Blu-Ray MAY eventually prove to be very valuable for gaming, but it is first and foremost a movie and data storage format. gaming applications will lag by 24-36 months before tapping the true capability of the format.
2) A speeding up of the generation transfer in the console world. The origin...
Great read....nice to see a balanced and civil post.
Proprietary in my context refers to who controls the specification, who "invented" it and who determines the use provisions. In the case of Blu-Ray, even though many companies "support" the format now, the single company with the most to lose if it bellies up like UMD is Sony.
Proprietary is also in reference to who gets the lion's share of the royalties if the format is used. SOny gets paid for every single Blu-Ray disc that is sold as part of their lisen...
