did you pull those numbers out of a hat? Not a single industry analyst or financial analyst has shared your blind faith that PS3 will GAIN market share.

At this point, Sony would be happy beyond belief if they can move 20 Million PS3s. Microsoft will also do cartwheels if THEY move past 20 Million systems sold.

This "next-gen" is not about mass-market gaming any more. It is priced too high for mass-market acceptance (and that INCLUDES the $400 XB360 ...

Ran demo on PC - Athlon 3400+, 2.8 GHz, NVidia 6600 GT, 1 GB RAM, all setting at default. Monitor = 17" flat pannel LCD, running at 1024 x 768.

Impression - nice game, but taxing my video card (granted it is a 6600GT, but it can handle HL2, Doom3 and F.E.A.R. with a lot of the eye-candy but not all, so this is a graphics intensive game on PC - definitely not low end). Looks very nice. Don't really like KB/M WASD controls, but that is personal preference.

I got the PC version's demo last night but have not had a chance to play it yet.

I want to do some A/B comparisons with my own eyes (no offense to anyone here, but why trust you guys when I can see it for myself....lol?)

but they flock to the Kojima quotes (a few stories up) and go ape-shiit about how grea the PS3 will be.

The question is this - if $600 in the US is going to curtain demand significantly after the launch sell-out, and if the Japanese say by 9-to-1 ratio that it is too expensive for what it does, how exactly does Sony overcome this? Europe? I haven't seen too many people happy about the ADDITIONAL premium they will be charged to own the PS3 (over and above the Japanese and US m...

Sony knows they can't afford to miss out on the hype of a holiday season with "the hottest" item on the market - even if they also know they have no hope of satisfying that demand with actual consoles this year or until mid-2007. Of course, that is going to be mainly due to the cruching shortages of units available. I know there is enough pent up desire to own this unit that there will be people willign to do just about anythign to own one. (I am reasonably sure that lametime wou...

There was a different story about this yesterday....

XB360 is about choice.
MS executives have been fairly consistent in that mantra since last year's release.
Adding an internal HD-DVD would only benefit Toshiba, but the add-on is already going to be available.

If that holds up, Sony will have lost almost $850 Million dollars this year and it is only July!!! ($587 Million in first quarter losses + this $243 Million tax bill.

OUCH.

And that doesn't even include the losses they are going to take once they start selling PS3's at -$400 a pop...

Impossible to talk to the brick wall that is Gollum here....

PS3 is going to get a serious run for its money no matter what you have convinced yourself. They have alraedy said the MOST, absolute MOST number of units they will make is 6 Million by April 2007. If they cannot even MAKE 6 million until then and Microsoft has already sold that many worldwide by teh end of June, how exactly is Sony going to "destroy" Microsoft?

Forget it, wasting time typin...

Gollum - I'm sorry I couldn't quite make out that last part...was that "precious" or "Xbox1.5" or "yes, we hates it..."...no matter, I'm sure it was a variation of one of them...

HDMI IS useless for gaming unless you have an HDTV with HDMI inputs - and 90% of the US market DOES NOT have an HDTV with HDMI. IF it cannot be used, it is by definition USELESS.

Let's see if I can dumb that down some more so you might understand...."D...

At their best, both BD and HD-DVD produce a picture equal to the best High-definition broadcasts you have seen. It can be stunning, but usually it depends on the camera used - if the camera was also a high-def camera, the images look better. Some films and clips I have seen look real nice....but others....

At their worst, they look barely better than DVD and are not worth the price. Since neither HD-DVD or BD looked beter than the other when viewing "WOW" images (th...

PS2.5 tard-pack doesn't have any of those things either, and the internal power brick is not going to be in the PS3 in either SKU.

HDMI is useless for gaming since component can deliver the EXACT same resolution of games regardless of ICT or not, and for movies it is the same story until SOny turns on ICT in 2010 and screws anyone who does buy their tard-pack.

60 GB HDD is hardly unique and there are homebrew XB360's with 500 GB HDD already available (and if I re...

I was laughing too hard and had to step out to have a Nintendo Console...

This is too easy, but does that mean we can officially call the PS3 a piece of Poo now?

The toliet humor of the Japanese console makers is awesome. Who would have ever thought that Sony would possibly go so far as to trademark a slang term for feces as a possible logo? Too much already...

That is absolutely correct.

Wavign one controller with both hands is NEVER going to be a useful feature because it is so limiting on what you can do. Look at the Wii controller for a game like Red Steel. If you had to swing the entire thing to make a motion, then you would be unable to move your character at the same time you are swinging - in other words, for everytime your wanted to shoot or swing a sword or anything else, you would have to stop the forward motion (or any m...

I personally thought the vision cone addition to Madden was brilliant. It allowed the player so many more options in terms of reading route progressions and most importantly faking out the guys who like to chase the cone on defense.

I was appalled at all the people bytching about how it "ruined" the game and tehn when the 360-version came out and had it off by default (same story for 2007 games I hear as well) I was sickened.

If games are too complex, ...

I also think there is no way it happens.

The amount of money lost on the first XB was something MS does not wish to repeat this time around. They were very clear on that from the start of the 360. The intention is to minimize loss per console and maximize the consumer's choices. The bundle you envision would be probitatively expensive to subsidise if they wanted to sell it at less than $600 to stay beneath the PS3 price point. If Sony is losing anywhere from $300-400 per ...

To all the geniuses out there who think that 60 fps is a big deal for some reason....go check your TV signal and get back to me on what Hz it runs at....

Here's a hint : it is about half of 60 fps...60 FIELDS per ssecond is the signal on a television, but since every FIELD is 1/2 of a FRAME in an interlaced TV source, it really runs at.....30 FRAMES per second.

To insist that the developers limited the game Prey to 30 FPS because of hardware limitations is assini...
