I would put Phil Harrison first in line of all the people I would want to punch in the face. Pow!!!! Right in the kisser!
If you all kept on my comments, you all know I was very excited my wife bought me one for Xmas. But afrter the Warner news, I returned it to Bestbuy the following day. But I won't go Blu anytime soon. I bought 360 games instead!! :) I'll just keep downloading HD movies now, since I wasn't much of a movie buyer anyways.
Wii has won and their is nothing the hardcore gamers can do about it.
I think $500 million had something to do with it. LOL But in all honesty it probably was the smarter decision as it ended the format war.
All though I still fell that it would have been better for HD-DVD to win for the mass market due to the lower price point; I cannot disagree with Warner's decision.
Now we can all be confident in buying movies once again. Altough at a much higher price :(
But PS3 can't win the format war by itself. Please tell me how many more DVD players there are in the world besides the PS3?? And from the looks of things, PS3 is gonna end up in third this generation to the 360 and the Wii. That leaves a HUGE population that will seek a HD player by other means. And like is always the case, price is the biggest factor in the mass market's purchasing habit. That is why anybody who knows anything about business knows this is far from over. Even Sony's CE...
I'm being called an idiot by the guy with two bubbles! LMAO! I wasn't saying that HD-DVD was great or anything, I was stating my observations from my personal experience. Blu-Ray is still selling more, but you have to admit that without the PS3, Blu-Ray probably wouldn't have a leg to stand on.
C'mon as much as people might argue, we all know there is no difference between HD-DVD and Blu-ray except price.
I went shopping for a HD-DVD player during X-mas and couln't find one anywhere within my state. Blu-ray players on the other hand were everywhere to be found. You have to admit that if it wasn't for Sony including Blu-Ray in the PS3 this format war would have been over already. Price being the major factor as it always is.
I got my 2 to 1 number from the article itself you idiot!
But's it's common knowledge that HD-DVD's sell a lot more standalone players then Blu-Ray do. And no I am not including the 360 add on. It's the PS3 and the PS3 alone that puts Sony on top. History has always shown that product offering the better value always prevails time and time again. But this time Sony made a brilliant move on the movie side by throwing in a trojan horse that is the PS3. (Not brilliant on the ...
they say it's a 2 to 1 lead, but that's including PS3's. and we all know that PS3's are used mainly for gaming not for viewing movies. If your talking about HD DVD players, HD-DVD's are kicking blu-rays arse.
Grew up with Christian parents and went to a religious school so I've read the bible plenty of time. But I'm not a ignorant person. I won't believe a book that was written to control people.... ESPECIALLY if it was written and revised YEARS after the whole Jesus thing took place.
Get your head out your ass and realize the whole truth around the bible before you critisize others my friend. Go learn why the bible was written in the first place and learn the true history AROUND...
Christmas being Jesus's birthday is as real as Sant Claus. Christmas is actually the Christians extention of Yule and Mirtha. A holiday celebrated in the past as the last celebration before going into hibernation for the cold winter. As the food was fresh and the wood was still plentyful people took advantage and celebrated. Then Christians conviently thru Jesus's birthday on this day for more worldwide acceptance of Jesus's birthday. (He was actually born closer to April.)
As for...
The free movies is worth the $100 itself! And think about it, even if HD-DVD does lose, imagen how cheap you'll be able to get movies in the future!!!! Then you can upgrade to a combo player in the future and already have a HUGE library of movies!!!
The fact that the specs for the Blu-Ray are yet to be finalized. For that fact, Blu-Ray players are going to have a hard time competing in price because Sony will not be able to sell their inventory as current models like Toshiba will be able to. And let's face it, even tho we can afford these product, the mass market are Wal-mart shoppers. People always looking for the best price.
Although I believe that Blu-Ray will survive, I do believe that you are terribly underestimating HD-DVD. Price alone will ensure that HD-DVD will eventually take the lead. By next Xmas HD-DVD will be at $100 or less while Blu-Ray will be somewhere around $250 -$200.
And it has been proven time and time again that the system offering the better value will always win. Latest example being the Wii and 360 over the PS3.
Combo players, even tho more expensive will ...
That is why the majority of the stand alone HD players are HD-DVD's. Honestly, the only reason that Blu-ray is even a factor is because Sony forced people to adapt Blu-Ray by putting it in the PS3. You have to admit that if it wasn't included, HD-DVD would have won a LONG time ago. But it was a brilliant move on Sony's part in terms of Videos. (Not so much in trem of games as that is the major reason why it isn't winning by now.)
I myself chose to go with HD-DVD after caref...
Haven't we been waiting forever for it to be the PS3's year. What are they gonna say in 08; Wait till 2009?
2008 will be more of the same with both the 360 and Wii outselling the PS3. Why? Simply because they are better values. How many people really want to spend $400 on a gaming machine? Not the casual gamer...no matter what exclusive you throw at them. The Wii and 360 will always cost less and have a bigger game library at lower costs. That is afterall why the PS2 suc...
Movies are looking Sweet!! Thought about a PS3 for Blu-Ray but I didn't want to be forced into it by Sony. HD-DVD offers way more for the value!
Sony's at it again. These numbers are only high because Sony has forced Blu-Ray on people in the form of PS3. And we all know how many Blu-Ray movies PS3 users buy. Just how Sony says they outsell disks 2 to 1. They forget to mention that those numbers include the movies they give away! LOL
This race is still alot closer then people here want to admit since lets face it, Sony fans were forced to become Blu-Ray supporters. Go to other non gaming sites and the arguements wi...
I have never heard anyone as seriously stupid as you. Everybody, please pop this idiots bubbles.
I own both consoles and all my gaming is done on the 360. I use my PS3 more for blu-Ray movies and to stream music from my computer. Biggest reason is that I HATE the PS3 control and that the only one of my friends who owns a PS3.
But maybe that will change in the future, who knows?
