Capcom killed it an further divided the community with SSF4A. That's the problem with releasing too much DLC and games in a short period of time, the online community just dies except for the few hardcore people that have all the DLC

Either the generation is getting too old or more people are just not buying games because they think $60 is too much for rushed, glitchy unfinished games that are require paid DLC to have the entire experience.
I'm not buying many games at $60 bucks anymore, I just wait until the price drops if I buy the game at all. Some games deserve my full money, more and more don't.
It's always good to hear positive gaming effects but isn't there a rule against investigator bias in pyschology. Wouldn't she just have to hypothesize something then see if the result are in fact positive.

Judging from the comments, games are already way to mature for most people.
MS and Sony are probably sending false information out to trick each other into producing underpowered hardware - like the opposite of an arms race. I'm sure each of them want games to look best on their console without taking a loss on hardware. I imagine both systems will have $400 worth of hardware in them at launch and that's taking into account bulk sale discounts.
I stopped playing BF3 when I realized that every time I played I ended up frustrated. In every other online game I'm not bothered if I have bad matches because I feel like, it was my fault I got killed because I made a mistake, or the other person was just better.
But in BF3, most of my deaths (and kills) just seem random - i wish it recorded matches, sometimes there's really no other place for the bullets to go but in the enemy but still nothing.

Was it Starbreeze or EAs idea to turn Syndicate into a very generic shooter. Either way, the game simply wasn't very good.

Maybe EA games would sell more if they weren't unfinished bug wise and missing key parts that are sold through DLC.
It's already starting, the crash. Increasingly, companies are give less game and more (DLC), so gamers by less games and more at discounts, so companies will in turn give even less game and charge even more.
It's a viscous cycle, and publishers started it.
I call fake on this one. Why would Apple make a separate console when they already have so much market penetration with existing products. It makes more sense to just make existing products more game capable (Macbooks, iPads, iPhones, iPods, iTV, etc.)
