Not GT5 quality, obviously, and there seem to have been some short-cuts like the hands, but otherwise I like it. Might be worth buying.
Which Kinect games look fun? They all look like rip-offs of the most boring Eyetoy games. At least some of the Eyetoy games were fun and there was something for almost everyone.
The only Kinect game that doesn't look completely, mind numbingly boring, is the one that teaches you to dance.
but with lots of lag and even less accuracy. Console and games extra.
Total: Console + Kinect + HDD + 4 years of Live = $650
What's the point?

I agree with the title but not the "article." It reads like cleverly worded propoganda.
As for the booth babe video, that's nothing new. Booth babes were doing exactly the same thing with the PS2 Eyetoy.

He had virtually unlimited funds with which to take Microsoft into new markets by building new businesses owned by Microsoft.
Despite all that money, all he's done is create one failed business after another that's being propped up on life-support and gradually draining Microsoft's coffers.
Disgusting.
He repeatedly failed to build on Microsoft's massive profitability and enormous cash reserves to take over other markets. He also absolutely failed to correctly assess and invest in future opportunities, hence, companies like Yahoo, Google, and Firefox, which started with nothing, are now the dominant players in the field.
All he did was drain the profits with one failed project after another.
Good riddance.
Looking forward to ...
Much longer range.
NLOS capability: Can penetrate walls, trees, etc.
Longer battery life.
2.4Ghz phones were dreadful. Busiest spectrum and lacking in NLOS performance compared to 900mhz.
5 ghz is the worst. Horrible NLOS performance resulting in inferior range. Requires massive batteries. Much more likely to cause cancer in your brain.
A reasonable compromise is the 1.9Ghz "DECT 6" ...
People like bigger numbers.
as well as some objects with low quality textures.
This is true of Crysis 2 and Rage as well. Just check the screenshots. Crysis 2 is more like Killzone 2 in that high and low res textures are often seen side by side which draws attention to the law res. What Rage does well is provide smoother transitions between it's low and high res textures.
Actual texture size in either game is unimpressive (impressive would be Uncharted 1/2 or God of War 3) bu...
it seemed that Sony was beginning a gradual decline into a pure marketing outfit that would simply license tech and outsource manufacturing but this is a sign that, perhaps, they haven't completely abandoned investment in research.
The only thing keeping x86 alive are those idiotic CPU benchmarks by computer magazines which are read by equally idiotic readers who believe that paying $500 more for 5% better benchmark is a smart purchasing decision.
The reality is that a 3.2Ghz P4 is more than fast enough for 99% of consumer and business computing needs.
but, except for certain kinds of games, it won't look that great because 1080P rendering means half as much shader processing per pixel.
The art style? The pretty colors?
If there's something you find technically impressive, please list those items.
is that he's extremely consistent. Whatever he says is always the opposite of what's true.
Therefore, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure what's really going on.
What a guy.
We're talking about whether 3D is an advantage in the context of gaming where you are, basically, hunting for enemies via a screen. Everything I said was 100% on topic.
Humans are a kind of animals. We gain the same benefits from 3D in gaming as we (and any other animal) would in real life.
Research at universities has shown this to be true with subjects tested in front of computer screens able to react faster to movement or appearance of onscreen objec...
In the kind of 3D used by GT5 or KZ3, each eye is receiving it's own uniquely rendered view just as it works in the real world.
Crysis 2, on the other hand, does use a cheap "trick." They admitted to it in a recent interview.
That's why predators (lions, tigers, etc) have stereoscopic vision (3D) which is useful for hunting while prey animals (cows, wildebeest, etc) have panoramic (2D) vision that's flat.
3D vision allows a predator to see even the slightest movement more easily, to identify an object's shape and material (such as furry or leathery), to better judge the speed of it's prey, how far it is, etc. 3D vision even makes it easier to spot a camouflaged object.

MBA wielding idiots who, typically, are incapable comprehending how people like Sakaguchi get things done.
MBAs are trained in a rigid style of doing things where every little thing is broken down into discrete steps with fixed deadlines regardless of whether it makes sense or not. As a result they are constantly demanding answers to the wrong questions.
I'm sure Kojima and Yamauchi feel similar pressures from such morons.
From the blog:...
Yet another generic FPS with generic visuals.
It's the camera flashes. It washes out the depth image received by the cheap little CMOS sensor inside the Natal device.
The real problem is the games. It's yet another Kinect game that's a rip-off of the PS2 Eyetoy:

And the Wii:
