Like Microsoft, it will have one core product (and whatever piggybacks on it in the same space) that will keep it alive as it repeatedly fails to bring innovative new products to the market in other areas.
Android and it's apps are a crappy, unreliable, and ugly alternative to what you get on the Iphone/Ipod.
Google TV is simply a me-too product which looks awkward to use and, so far, seems horribly over-priced.

pretty much requires it.
However, Microsoft got the short end of the stick with the bog-slow Xenon CPU and won't be too happy about being stuck with IBM.
When Microsoft went to IBM for a CPU, it's true that IBM took from the Cell which has 8 fast processors and one slow processor. For unknown reasons, IBM simply stuck three of the slow processors on one chip (while reducing the amount of cache/processor) and, apart from some near inconsequential mod...
It would certainly ensure backwards compatibility with the Wii and Gamecube, both of which use simpler IBM processors. The Cell's PPU would run those games just fine. The SPUs would be icing on the cake due to it's ability to "accelerate" (how this happens is complicated but that's the end result) whatever GPU they build into the Wii2.
Worse draw distance. Simplified buildings and other geometry. Fewer reflective surfaces.

who are desperate to believe that the 360's hardware is anywhere near as capable as the PS3 hardware. Many of these jokers are desperate to believe that Uncharted 2 is a series of pre-rendered cut scenes. The delusion runs deep. It's not worth trying to reason with them. They will never truly go away.
Just like there are still people who believe the Dreamcast was more powerful than the PS2.
Just like there are still people who think HD-DVD was a b...
Ballmer needs to go.
Half that of the PS2 Eyetoy and a quarter of the PS3 camera.
So accuracy is poor.
The lag, however, is due to the CPU architecture which is not suited to perform this kind of task.
None of the Kinect games shown so far (i'm not talking about fake videos like Milo) have demonstrated anything that wasn't done as well or better by the PS2's Eyetoy. What's more, the PS2 Eyetoy supported more players.
Notice in th...
They publish a flattering preview to wet the developer's appetite.
While the developer thinks about whether they ought to pay out for a good review, in the back of their mind they'll remember how IGN made an example of Tecmo Koei with that absurd 3.5 score for Quantum Theory.
The large reviewing sites are like old style gangsters. Shaking up developers for "protection money."
This will benefit ATT more than Microsoft.
Existing 360 owners are sure to start using this but due to the massive costs involved (hardware, multiple subscriptions, accessories, installation, etc) and the stigma surrounding the Xbox as a toy for dorks, you won't see Mr and Mrs Robinson asking for one at Best Buy to watch the Food Channel and evening news.
I'm sure the folks at Best Buy will love this. Those Geek Squaders need something to do.
use of move.
Glad they don't require a grenade throwing motion to throw a grenade. Just point and click. Nice.
since the Xbox 1.
With games like Lost Planet 2, Mass Effect 2, and even Launch games like Oblivion and others pushing some very high quality visuals, we know the 360 can do far better than this.
but visuals look rather dated.
but the PS3 version is missing some features that are becoming standard. It's clear that, while they're pushing the GPUs in both machines, and using a lot of pixel shading (the strength of the RSX), they haven't really utilized the Cell to the extent of games like Uncharted 2, KZ 2, God of War 3, etc for post-processing.
There's some motion blur but not of the quality that exclusives provide. The simplest upgrade is MLAA which, nowadays is more or less a &qu...
to attack and evade. Even funnier is they criticized the developers for "artificially extending the game by throwing wave after wave" of enemies when other well known games that do exactly that received IGN's top score.
Also precious is the 3.5 for graphics when it looks exactly like other games that received top scores. Oh yeah, and there's absolutely nothing in the review that proves that they actually played the game.
Now Tecmo knows wh...
There's no rain effect on the body work.
The road and windshield look great but the lack of water effect on the bodies of cars is disappointing.
Then again, from 4 years of footage, this is the first significant visual flaw.
Maybe they'll fix it by release or perhaps that's the one aspect of the visuals that will serve as a reminder that these other wise unbelievably photorealistic, 60fps/1280x1080 visuals are being rendered by an...
Adding side skirts and a heavier rear body kit can just as easily increase aerodynamic drag.
The primary purpose of aerodynamic add-ons in race cars is aerodynamic stability via extreme downforce. Increasing downforce actually increases drag by quite a bit.
A well engineered body kit will minimize those losses or even provide a small improvement.
Widening your car and adding wings will definitely make your car slower. Side-skirts and other ...
still believes that the 360 is in the same league as the PS3 when it comes to raw performance.
Just look at how Forza 3, which is built on an engine that was continuously improved for 5 years, looks next to GT5 despite GT5 operating at a much higher resolution with twice as many cars per race.
The 360 still doesn't have a game that beats Uncharted 1. Many were hoping that Alan Wake would be the one but that failed on multiple levels, including resoltion ...
but what else is there? Once you experience the 3rd dimension for movie watching (I'm not much of a gamer) 2D is just not satisfying.
All glasses-free 3D shown so far have serious problems, most notably, low resolution and compromised brightness/contrast. I wouldn't be surprised if the reason for the massive bezel in the sharp is to house enormous arrays of LED lights. At least the viewing angle issue appears to have been solved.
Still, until OLED ...
however, 3D does "hog" GPU. In fact, that's precisely what the developer said.
As for Kinect, that's a whole different problem. That really is a CPU hog since all the processing burden is on the CPU, not the GPU. According the IBM tests, the Xenos CPU is pretty slow. As a result, Microsoft had to scale back accuracy (they use a low precision point cloud) yet it still has massive amounts of lag.
This game is doing things a GeForce 7900GT (the GPU on which the PS3 is based) is not supposed to do.
The resolution, frame-rate and sheer quality of the visuals seemingly defies the laws of physics.
With such a bleeding edge engine running such a complex game on such complex hardware, there's bound to be some surprise bugs here and there.
While I doubt they'll eliminate them all together, they surely wouldn't want too many videos...
