The shading capabilities of the graphics chip in the PS3, the RSX, is precisely the same as the Nvidia 7900GT. To get an idea of how well the GPU would perform without the Cell processor helping out, simply look at the benchmarks for the 7900GT.
It runs shader heavy games like Gears of War and Bioshock, for example, at a higher resolution than the console versions at maximum detail levels (console versions are approximately medium detail level).

I've been genuinely interested for actual gameplay purposes. The God of Wars, Uncharteds, and Killzones are fascinating for their technical accomplishments but their focus on shooting or slashing as the primary gameplay mechanic bores me.
LBP 2 could be interesting as well.
This kind of completely preventable accident is extremely common here in the US but very rare in other countries. The UK is beginning to become a bit like us but when it comes to sheer stupidity and delinquency, statistically speaking, they've got a long way to go to catch up to us.
Why are we such idiots?
How can these screens be anything but disappointing? Anyone who's driven a definitive sim knows that correct car damage is done with swapping out textures and that damage always occurs the same way no matter how the car was hit. GT5 doesn't even put scratches on the roof when the car's bumper hits a wall. Ridiculous.
Ha ha. Silly GT5 fanboys. Anyone who's driven a "definitive Sim" knows that real damage always happens the same way every time and that no matter what part of the car get's hit the top of the car always gets scratched. When GT5 can do that, then we can talk.
The article is about graphics.
The graphics are technically deficient. Blurry, stretched textures and general lack of proper shading. Character models are mediocre as well and surfaces suffer from specular aliasing. The lighting isn't all that impressive either.
This in-game action shot reveals all the problems.

Breaking the law (illegally using proprietary code, illegally copying and distributing software) only drives up the costs for real consumers and, more importantly, makes life even harder for independent game developers. The result will be a market filled with 1st party and one or two 3rd party conglomerates such as EA.
The number of hardcore Microsoft fanboys on N4G has more than doubled in the last month. Looks rather fishy.
As for the graphics in this game, I'd love for someone to explain what's so impressive about it.
like the incessant bleating of sheep.
A true demonstration of collective thinking. Now the question ... are 20 brains greater than 1?
Which is right?
The 20+ that think Halo Reach displays realistic gameplay and mind-blowing graphics.
Or the one who said it had "arcadey, unrealistic gameplay with crap graphics?"
Hmmm?
Nothing personal, brother. Just a bit of tongue in cheek commentary.
@Midnightmask85
What we have here is a personality mismatch. You're a 360er with a PS3 girlfriend. That's can't be good. I'd hate to see you marry this girl and then have her leave you for a PS3 guy down the road. Having a PS3 in the house is just a band-aid. It's obvious that she's still with you only because she's immature and thinks she can change you int...
I feel your pain.

On a side-note:
Based on a quick review of comments for today's news items, N4G featured about 10 Hardcore MicroSoftees (would that be an oxy-moron or just plain moron?) with about another 10 loyal and dedicated MicroSoftees providing them with strong support on key issues.
Well done, MicroSoftees. Your solidarity is commendable even if your collective intellect is not.
that Halo Reach displays realistic gameplay and mind-blowing graphics. Their argument? Childish name-calling.
Thus spake the herd.
I'm sure it will sell millions.
360 owners are almost invariably single and desperate. The few that do have girl-friends who hate gaming.
Wii owners are the opposite. One of the reasons they even have a Wii is because of their girl-friends.
PS3 owners are a mix. The RPG types who prefer story and fantasy over COD are more likely to have girl-friends, while there's definitely a dork segment as well that somewhat resembles the 360 owner. However the PS3 owners with girl-friends are th...
we've received so far, it wouldn't be a stretch to say that there are at least 3 people from that site actively promoting it on N4G.
It was not "indie" developed.
On Microsoft's own website it says "developed by Microsoft Research."
It was originally introduced as a game named Boku but when it became blindingly obvious that it was beyond pathetic they changed the name to Kodu and decided to sell it as a "visual programming language" tool.
The price was low because it sucked. Now they're just giving it away for free.
the subject matter?
Seems that site is desperate for hits.
LBP won people over with it's application of astonishingly life-like lighting, textures, and physics to a highly stylized cartoony world with a very character of it's own.
This thing by EA just looks ugly and stupid though not as extraordinarily stupid as Microsoft's pathetic attempt at an Xbox360 based LBP fighter, "Boku" (now called Kodu).
You get to make games out of what look like shiny turds, peppers, and other equally inspiring sha...
Performance:
While both have the potential for voice control, the PS2 Eyetoy's motion capture operates at 60fps while Natal/Kinect's is just 30fps. The PS2 Eyetoy can perform motion capture on twice as many players with up to 4 people playing at the same time.
Gameplay:
The Natal/Kinect games shown so far are clones of existing PS2 Eyetoy games.
It's possible that future Natal/Kinect games will introduce somethin...
No other company would allow a dysfunctional control interface on their console and then advertise it using faked video clips of various functions it cannot actually do.
