Because nobody* cares?
Might as well make a curling game. 😉
*No obviously - someone cares, I just don’t know if enough to make a whole game out of it in the modern marketplace, it’s more the sort of thing a small studio would stick on steam than a big budget thing?
Advantages to both digital and physical, I’m almost entirely digital now but occasionally get physical for fancy editions or gifts.
.. there was this one time someone stole, and resold my Origin account to a Russian guy.. And I had to use support to get the account back, then the angry buyer was threatening me because *he* bought it. That was surreal.
That wouldn’t happen with physical.. Buuuuuutttt.. There was this other time someone broke into my house...
I didn’t get screwed, I liked NMS on launch. It was a mess but there was still a lot of fun to be had.
Are you saying that after a mistake - and clear acknowledgement of having made a mistake (and this wasn’t outright lying so much as overpromising when certain features werent ready for prime time.) Even if a dev puts years of work into free updates they shouldn’t be able to redeem themselves?
Bring on the competition. Steam need it. I’ve not had problems with any of the companies’ launchers, or GoG Galaxy, or itch.io etc.. PC gaming will outlive any single marketplace’s de facto dominance, it did ok before and will after. Having Epic, R*, EA, Ubisoft, Bethesda, MS, etc etc outside steam lights a torch under Valves ass to also get premium content.. Maybe even some degree of quality control.. Maybe even release games like they used to?! (Some chance.)
Steam shoul...
Wtf? You think NMS 2 is on the cards? They have no time and man power for another massive project and they have more (free) content planned for NMS.
Well there’s been a small passionate player base since launch. It’s got bigger with each large update, I still don’t think the core mechanics are what most people want from a game but for those who do it’s great.
I’m still searching for the perfect ship, etc.
Just Phantom’s idea that because one person doesn’t like it - it shouldn’t exist, is crazy. There are a lot of us in the NMS community now, it’s okay to like different things, jeez.
Approaching 200hrs played here.
I don’t see how anyone couldn’t get some enjoyment out of it now. It’s a pretty niche concept in general but i can’t see how anyone would hate it this much.
How do you feel about minecraft?
That seems like a good thing to me given the criticisms it’s had re:bland gameplay. More time and more focus will hopefully help them make it play as good as it looks.
I genuinely think there should be a definition of abandonware that makes it legal to redistribute old games that aren’t sold/sellable, after 10ish years. (?) Sony’s take on this is interesting too, remastering games mean people want to buy it again.
Nobody is losing money from me collecting MAME roms and old Amiga games. On the few occasions where someone HAS ported an Amiga game I’ve often bought it anyway.
Many of the original ip holders don’t care, cer...
How’re people disagreeing with “it’s translucent!” ?? Haha 😂
.. it’s translucent!
Yeah.. I guess maybe he’s been playing since before that was possible and didn’t realise how it works now?
I’ve had a couple of weird glitches but they’ve either been funny or at least pretty to look at.. I kind of want to fly into some caves now. 😂
That’s a shame, if anything the performance has improved drastically on the windows version for me. :/
Bizarre. I love RL though, never did finish it, this is a good reminder. :)
The cross-save thing with the vita/PS4 is really good in this game, it’s very good as a portable title.
nice looking updates. I’m super glad they’re taking their time. This isn’t something to rush to an arbitrary launch date.
This’ll totally depend on the games in question. Something dark like the Siren games where you potentially only see the faces in fleeting fashion? Yeah, we will get photorealism in games like that soon enough, with good devs.
Anything that lingers on faces is going to be an issue, they can’t even get prerendered faces in films perfect most of the time, there’s no reason to think game devs would be better at it than effects houses.
I love the game, and have since launch, although rough around the edges there was always a really unique core. It’s gone from strength to strength through all the updates but this looks to be an insanely big leap forward.
I’m still a bit confused as to wtf you’d do in multiplayer. Will it just be the same with extra people? Being a space pirate must be pretty boring if the nearest player is light years away. 😅
I think they probably missed it. It’s so trivial to correct once noticed. A debut console should be telling them that things are misfiring to this extent.
Another dev mentioned outsourced QA could’ve been a problem, or a breakdown in communications so people didn’t have the knowledge/experience of the game to notice the AI getting suddenly much worse. I’m not blaming any individuals, it’s just hilarious how they could’ve fixed this with such a microscopic patch.
This is one of the most hilarious game dev goofs I’ve ever seen. Seerrriously?! How did nobody involved notice the ai was so jacked up? It was brought up in reviews.. there were post launch patches! Haha, what.
I’m really glad for it as they get years worth of tinkering, optimisations and updated developer resources.
I can’t believe they’ve not done a remaster (would really just have to be a HD rerelease with more particles/grass etc) of RDR though, that seems like a huuuge missed opportunity.
