its either a quad core (4 threads each) or a 8-core (2 threads) using something like Hyper threading technology . 16 physical cores is a no-no as it will be so hot.

Its like 2005 again really. All rumors about used games and stuff because Kutaragi and Sony filed a patent on it. I doubt they will lock used games completely as many retailers might get angry.

Sony would also get discounts from AMD so probably $350. The specs can roughly play games on High at 1080P at 60 FPS. (don't include Crysis, BF3, Metro and other GPU intensive games). The rumored specs are from presumably devkits from developers so these are not final.

It still Dev Kit specs, still its capable enough. You can use the video on how capable it is on modern games.

I find it to be an enjoyable game that my niece would enjoy but not my cup of tea. Well, I'm 21 so I have different taste (especially having a high end PC and PS3/360).
Still, the reviewers had high expectations for it so if they are disappointed , they would really lower the score.

Just watch these guys. That would be the dev kits specs and its potential graphical output. You can compare Dirt 3 (@ 1080p at 60FPS) and GT5 for Graphical leap. Of course, these specs would jump at final production. But this could be the closest comparison we have now.

Here in my country (Philippines) and probably the rest of Asia, PC gaming reigns supreme. i believe the study in regards to social interactions is already implemented in games, that is why MMO's are popular here. Of course, I am talking about a different setting but the study has a point. As for me, I enjoy playing diff platform so PC/PS3/360 for me with handheld+iphone/ipad.
I find it funny that people want a custom chip from the ground up and then want it cheap. Its cheaper for Sony and gamers if they go this route and have a comparable specs with MS. These are based on dev kits also. Its not the final specs.
The orbis pribably have early version dev kits compared to Durango, the advantage of Sony is that they have a many first party devs. So that may be the reason that they can launch early. Software sell hardwares in terms of consoles.
well, hardware wise, they may be off the shelf for comparison purposes, but they would be customize by AMD and their partner, MS and Sony. So, the architecture they would adapt would be the same as the off the shelf but have heavily tweaked hardware.
It was hard to follow the Story, I have played all the games on all platforms except the 3DS (had a DS emulator). They should focus on 1 platform or just be multiplat so it could be easier to follow.

First, to people who wants to have Cell 2.0 and RSX 2.0, I am sorry but it is not feasible enough cost wise for Sony to do it. Cell development has been halted and some of its architecture is incorporated to other platforms. The RSX is old so pls dont go backward in technology as there is other GPU architecture available.
