Every company falls for this sort of thing, Nokia is one prime example and eventually, Apple will too. Apple is the "it" thing right now so you pay for the brand. Sony just lost this brand equity because their products are in tight competition.
The PS3 is expensive because it was over-engineered. It had wifi, advanced audio support, 3d ready, Blu ray and aesthetically good looking back then but consumers did not see this.

It needs software, price cuts are last ditch effort. And stop with the doom and gloom, the 3DS had it for months and every gaming article repeats it like no tomorrow and now they are silent because their speculations were way off.
It depends on the resolution you want to play on and the games you have. If its 1080p, and you only play mainstream game such as starcraft, WOW then that would suffice.
The upper range card which are the 7850 and upwards are overkill for 1080p gaming at 60fps. You need those cards if you want ultra settings on demanding games such as Metro, BF3, crysis and total war shogun (when huge armies are involve!!)
If you buy the 7970 for $470 and then sell the Deus and Dirt game coupons, it will really worth the price.
That is where the $$$ for those cheap gaming apps. Facebook games has done it successfully (just look at Zynga) I just facepalm when some of my friends bought stuff for farmville and other flash games.

Kids would love these kind of games. I would hate it of course. I have kinect because of dance games which are good in parties and get together with family.
WKC1 and 2 was ok for me. Too much hype killed it. I'll buy this game because its an improvement over WKC.

That is why it is japan only. Its a TV tuner/video recorder that streams those videos to xperias, tablets from sony, TV, vaio PC PS3, vita and DLNA capable devices.
Yeah, many prefer Killzone 2 MP. For me, it was acceptable but the hype from KZ2 was too strong. I also like blazblue more but SF has brand recognition.
The 3DS performED poorly. Its much different now. I believe it broke the DS records.
Well, being fanatically loyal to a company is stupid. Sure, most of my hardware purchases comes from Sony PS brand and Intel+Nvidia combo but it didn't stop me from buying an xbox Apple products and a nintendo handheld. Just play the games you like and never bash others.
PC elitist, apple fanatic and Sony/MS/Ninty fanboys should stop fighting with each other in order to make the internet a better place!
Console and PC sot are dependent on a person. For consoles, don't factor in the TV cost because its normal to have a TV. For a PC, not all families have desktop nowadays as many have become accustomed to laptops and sometimes MACs. However, if you have a desktop PC already for home/work use, the cost of a gaming PC will significantly lower.
I had probably spent around $2500 for a PC+PS3+360 and some peripherals gaming setup.
A big air cooler or close loop water cooler.
When I buy a game I don't base solely on reviews. I have man Jrpgs in my consoles and far less FPS because I prefer RPG's compared to critically acclaimed shooters (i.e. I don't own COD because one modern FPS is good for me >BF3).
Don't let reviewers solely justify your purchase.
Mobile gaming has always been a staple of the gaming industry. Of course, I'm talking about Nintendo gaming devices.
We have the red, blue, white and some FF skin here (Philippines). the red one is pinkish in my eyes while the others are ok. The lightning skin, for me, looks great.
