GOTY edition Day 1 for me. I did it with fallout, batman, red dead and many other games. Thank god I have a good backlog of games from consoles and PC.
But the 360 and PS3 are not strictly gaming console per se, now i view them as entertainment devices because of their added functionality
I hope they change some things. My expectation are too high so I want something more for Halo 4. This is one of my favorite series so I expect the best.
Its a closed system , plug and play, every new game that comes out work, standardized specs.
A pc is an open system, has much much more graphical and gameplay capabilities, more functional, customizable.

Well said, add some power supply, some little cooling, a dvd drive? and then there is cost for assembling this.
Moreover, the problem of valve is their international precense, steam is not that popular here in Asia even though I have it in my pc. That makes it harder for them as the 4th "console" in a saturated market.
Like i said before, i am skeptical but i will buy it if its a game changer, I like valve and i dont want them to lose money on thi...
The problem with ninja thoery is their PR seems very egoistic. That is the vibe i got when reading their statements ever since their debut.
That is just a pc, any pc gamer can make that. though ill change the i7 to i5 and probably change into an amd gfx for better performance per buck.
They are good developers. They are a first party studio so they have the support of sony. Its a great game though based on my friend's feedback on it. Longer than any uncharted series on PS3 but without MP. The graphics are like Uncharted 1 so don't expect it will be the same as 2 and 3.

It would be their OS probably, licensing Windows would add cost. Better yet, make it a dual boot option (Steam OS+ other OS like Windows 8 or Ubuntu). I think the latter will be the likely one so consumers will have the choice if they want the additional cost of Windows 7/8.
Even though I dont like EA, I like mass effect and Bioware. Though I will wait either for a sale or a GOTY edition..so many backlog on consoles and PC to buy any new game day 1.
After reading all the news about this, its more like an alienware with upgradable parts. I think the price will be reasonable (I hope actaully). I'll not buy it because I already have a PC and console. i might change my mind though if its revolutionary. I'll just sell the PC and buy a Mac and Steambox.
Im gonna buy it on the holidays sine I opted to buy a new graphics card. Looks really sweet though. I expect the vita to be compatible with the PS4, perhaps the controller of the PS4 would be Vita-like much like the Wii U.
Half Life 3 would not be an exclusive on this Steam box. My gaming PC had waited so many years for it!
I am skeptical since they need something revolutionary to succeed. A console with upgradable parts is still a PC. I thinks in the long term either Valve or one of the big 3 might go Sega because the market would be saturated.

Based on the news, isnt this like a gaming htpc? I have the exact setup at home with wireless logitech controls.
well other studios also have people from different developers too.Still, i expect huge things for 343 as they are their MS top developer right now in my opinion.
So it would be like the alienware x51. I wonder though, i hook my pc to my tv, i have a controller and wireless keyboard and mouse...isnt this the same thing?
As long as the script and the voice actor is good, then I am ok with this.
Off-topic: damn, I miss playing zelda games (and metroid, pokemon), never bought a nintendo system this gen. I hope the Wii U surprises me.
