I think MS will have some tircks up their sleeves...although it does look a bit dry on the horizon. I hope Alan Wake is good. Remedy are fantastic developers, at least Max Payne was great.

Sony's quality is good, I'm not doubting that. I do have some wireless surround headphones from them, that are pretty outstanding, again used for my outdoor theater when I'm gaming alone. I also had a Sony XM radio, that wasn't so hot. I've also owned Sony portable CD players over the years.
The PSX was built around tech Ninty and Sony developed, I owned a Saturn.
The PS2, I never had...I went with a Dreamcast and a Xbox.
Obviously now, It's a 360.

Tekken was pretty important as an "exclusive" PS fighting game. That is jumping ship. So I don't see why MGS can't be taken. Money talks.
Quite honestly, IMHO, how can it be for anything but a 360? The green color, the power button? I think alot of people truly know, and are "hoping" it isn't for the 360.

The 360's lead is 6.8 million over the Playstation 3. The 360 would have to cease to be sold and the PS3 would have to sell 100,000 a month for 66.8 months to catch up. It won't happen. Keep on fighting the good fight SDF, you're not going to see the PS3 take over the 360 while it's MS' prime console.

The lead is insurmountable. So while $S3 owners lament over beating the Xbox by a couple thousand here and there each month, the numbers don't add up to the world domination the P$3 users like to see.

$199 is pretty close for me, and I have a HD-DVD player. Upscaled DVD's look fantastic on it it isn't HD quality, but it's pretty damn good. But I may be getting a Blu-Ray player as my gift to myself this X-Mas I do want some of the new movies on HD, and yes HD-DVD was the better format, que sera sera.

Umm, I actually think it's pretty good. Maybe I'm a bit too old not to appreciate it. The movie selections are "classics" and have very limited appeal to some I'm sure, I'm finding the movie selection decent.
Why would MS want to kill their Marketplace offerings with "new" movies anyway? That doesn't make much business sense. If you're ever thinking about instant streaming new releases I wouldn't count on it. I doubt we will ever see it.

I have to commend you on your cross-platform non-biasness. Haha. The update isn't that bad at all. I've never used the XMB, unless it's the exact same as the PSP, if that's the case then that's not bad either.
You can't have push start to go anymore, these systems do so much more than any other you have to have a way to smoothly access them. So you may see similarities.
@40 cal...he's right the update is mandatory, so is the Avatar deal. I haven't really gotten much out of the Avatar, my gamerpic is still the same, and the blades are a joke after using this..so I don't know what the issue is.

Yeah Jontay, that's exactly it, to boost NXE numbers. Seriously? MS does this kind of thing every year around this time. Last year Live was Five so they gave stuff away. This year, it coincides with the release of NXE. A promotion to celebrate the release of a new GUI. A FIRST for the industry, to release an entire new GUI onto a console via download...I think it's a pretty big deal. I also think it's very cool as well.

Please post a link to the supposed ages of who buys what system. I know many many people my age that have a 360, 34. From the looks of the comments on here between the two systems, the PS3 seems to retain the teenage boy factor quite well.

It is, I didn't vote for Barry but it is pretty profound. There are also tons of other things going on....economy, the war, the inevitable new cold war with Russia, thew Nuclear issues with Iran, the backing of Israel in such a hostile area...it goes on and on...So yes, the game kind of foreshadows the issues that most likely could end up to the decimation of DC. In my mind the reviewer was thinking that this isn't probably to far off from Sci-Fi.
