Everything he mentioned is either out on Wii U or will be released on Wii U this year. You are correct that Wii U is not selling well, but that was mainly due to a lack of compelling software. But there are a ton of big games coming this year and next year starting with Pikmin 3 (a great game), so sales will pick up significantly this holiday after the price drop later this month.
The 2DS is targeting children under 7. Why would you buy a child under 7 a smartphone that costs hundreds of dollars?
I'm endlessly amused by people who think the PS4 will DECIMATE the X1. I have little doubt PS4 will outsell X1, but not by as much as many seem to think, at least in the US. Remember, Microsoft's marketing is second to none, and Kinect is VERY popular with the large casual gaming crowd. I would dare say that there's a slim chance the X1 could outsell PS4. I don't think it will, but it is possible, in the US that is.
Nothing is outselling anything. They're not even out yet. You're referring to preorders but those aren't a reliable indication of what sales will be like. A lot people only preorder just for the sake of guaranteeing that they can buy a system at launch, but then many of them will cancel their preorders for various reasons. I suspect PS4 will outsell X1, but not by much, only because Microsoft is way better at marketing than Sony, and that makes a big difference in sales.
They both offer different experiences, so it's a matter of which games you prefer. I'm a big Nintendo fan, so I went with the 3DS, and I've really enjoyed it so far. But I'm tempted to get a Vita as well, especially after the price drop. I'll see what kind of bundles Sony offers this holiday.

Agreed. Also, certain games require the Gamepad like Nintendoland and Game & Wario, and maybe others. I think selling a Wii U without a Gamepad would just piss off unsuspecting gamers who may buy games that require it only to find out they now need to buy a Gamepad separately.

It's strange that this is a Wii U exclusive in Japan considering Wii U sales are just as low in Japan as anywhere else. Does anyone know why this remained a Wii U exclusive in Japan?

The Wii U had a strong launch lineup. The problem was that many months went by after launch with very few games coming out, and almost no first party games. That's finally changing thankfully.
If you're going to count literally every game you can play on Vita, including PSP and PS1 games, then you should also consider all the Wii and Wii Vurtual Console/downloadable games you can play on the Wii U.

Yo Ted. Nintendo made it pretty clear that the 2DS was designed for children under 7, since the 3D effect of the other models is not good for the eyes of younger children. Anyone 7 and older can stick with the 3DS and 3DS XL.
Yup. The $599 model dropped to $499 like 6 months after launch. I remember because the drop came like a month after I bought one for $599 :(

That's quite soon. I can't wait to play this. It's been years since I played WW back when I had a Cube. It's one of my favorite games, so I'm excited to play it again with better graphics.
The thing about the PS4 and X1 is that you have to look more closely to see the leap in graphics than any generational leap in the past. Last time around we went from SD to HD, a huge, noticeable difference. This time we're going from HD to better HD. So the PS4 and X1 will most certainly do things the Wii U can never do, you just have to look closely at all the little details to see the difference.
