wow, he said many games but only put DMC4 down for this 5GB install. i think installs are good ONLY if it has significance to make the game smoother, faster and better. but the DMC4 install was retarded for doing nothing. I don't mind installs as long as there's significance to them
that's why the movie industry should release the Blu-ray movie a week or two before the DVD version. That way it will help drive the HD sales. And i agree that having BC isn't going to help people migrate to HD any quicker. Most people would buy the cheaper alternative.

very soon the only types of TV's available on shelves are HDTV's so it's inevitable that consumers will migrate to an HD format. The question is when.

it only lasted 4 years because MS wanted to get the head start on both Sony and Nintendo, hence the problems they're facing right now. and they ditched the entire user base, i'm one of them that's angry about that

the only ones who want a new console so quickly are the ones who realize their current console is outdated so quickly
Let's just hope both Nintendo & MS will continue to support the current consoles when a new one emerges. 5-6 years is a reasonable lifespan for a console. Hopefully MS learns from these mistakes and makes a more reliable console next time around.
nice... retailing a PS3 cheaper wouldn't hurt one bit. i'm hoping my 60GB will live until the end of this gen but if it doesn't i'll opt for one with the 45nm.

take your blind goggles off. a console without a standard hdd is a big bottleneck for developers. this is 2008 and beyond.
not needed NOW... but it's a bottleneck for developers and this will show in a couple years. You will see a trend of games requiring an HDD. get back to reality.. the 360 without a standard HDD will suffer this gen until MS forces those without an HDD to get one and everyone will get suckered into buying an way overpriced proprietary HDD.
i see your point. but the general consumer might not be using that much space for things, but i could be wrong. i don't think BD-R/RW discs will come cheap any time soon so if you look at the price per GB an external HDD is cheaper and it is less prone to damage.
if they include a BD player/burner without jacking the prices too high then i'm all for it, i mean, it's not a bad thing, but i just think it's not really needed
the fact that Blu-ray had won the format war it will help the PS3 immensely when people are comparing features or the longevity of the product. So i would agree that it will help sales for sure, it might not be the selling point but then again it could very well be.
