It's actually kind of interesting. I feel like Nintendo has the best showing for sure, but the problem is something I've talked about before: it didn't speak to a new audience. The same people who evangelize the Wii U and Nintendo as a company are probably super excited. Most everybody else doesn't care. I just don't think the Wii U will ever bring in a new audience.
As for Sony and Microsoft, I'd say it's fairly even but Sony was a little bit bett...
"We got more surprises with MS with Ori, Phantom Dust, and Crackdown. It was all games, exactly what E3 should be, nothing else."
Suda 51's Let it Die, From Software's Bloodborne, LittleBigPlanet 3, Entwined. Even if we were to call it a draw on exclusive announcements, which it isn't, Sony also had stuff like Grim Fandango remake, standalone inFamous: Second Son DLC and the awesome "free" co-op of Far Cry 4 if a friend has the game, among othe...
None of the Uncharted games have CGI as we understand it. Basically, for cutscenes in Uncharted they use in-game character models with somewhat enhanced character models. So, there isn't a big difference in the graphics of what you see in a cutscene and what you see when you play the game.
The thing about Quantum Break that makes people skeptical, though not myself for the most part, is that the game is very much an unknown quantity. We really, for the most part, don'...
"triangle was pressed twice during The Order "gameplay"'
Look, I'm sure you are a nice guy and all, but on two different occasions the guy literally fired a gun. Now, I'm not going to sit here and act like it was a paragon of gameplay, but it WAS more than pressing triangle twice. In fact, while moving around isn't an exciting gameplay concept, the player was controlling the character on screen until it did the cinematic pan.
Th...
Because From Software's first game was Demon's Souls and the only other two games they have done afterwards is two Dark Souls games.
Wait, what? They have been developing games since the 90's? Oh, ok.
Sony had a ton of games. The entire first hour was literally nothing but games just like Microsoft. I don't know if Sony announced more exclusives/revealed more new third party games than Microsoft, but they at least had as many.
Sure, Sony spent 20 or so minutes on things other than games, but is it REALLY that bad that they announced that Vita TV is coming to NA, that the Vita isn't completely abandoned, that PSNow beta is coming very soon and that PS+ users get the...
I'd say in terms of the game announcements it's probably fairly close, though I think Sony gets the edge here. Of course, that's all there was to Microsoft's conference. Sure, the 30 minutes or so of Sony talking about things other than PS4 games was mostly dull, but I will say there was some cool stuff still. PlayStation TV? The first original programming is a interesting comic book adaptation that PS+ users get for free. It dragged, but unlike something such as Wonderbook it...
Holy wow dem graphics.
Apparently there are a lot of people trying to play the semantics game with my statements. For instance, when I say "Nintendo game" I mean the types of games and franchises you basically expect on a Nintendo home console (ranges from Mario to Metroid) or those that have fundamental similarities to common Nintendo games.
The Wonderful 101 is a game with a colorful, cartoony aesthetic that focuses on gameplay. That is literally what I and most people think of when the...
Sadly, I think it is you who are misinformed.
For one, in your list of "Non-Nintendo games" you list the Wonderful 101 which very much falls in line with the types of games people expect from Nintendo, plus you mention X which is made by a Nintendo owned studio.
Second, games like Sonic very clearly are of the same DNA as Nintendo games. Sure, Sonic is owned by SEGA, but a cute/colorful mascot platformer and offshoots of that franchise sounds pretty...
If you like Nintendo games, the Wii U is good. You can say that about probably every Nintendo console. If, for whatever reason is pertinent to you, you need more than the expected Nintendo series, then the Wii U is pretty bad.
There really isn't much middle ground honestly.
No Maximum Carnage? List invalid!
You can hack from the beginning. In fact, you can play practically stealthy the entire game if you want. I would understand if the reviewer didn't like the gameplay in general, but it seems an odd criticism to say he had to play run-and-gun. I played the second mission without firing a single bullet...
I would like to see Microsoft diversify their offerings, but if there is demand for another Forza franchise then who am I to deny them?
I actually would agree that the two SMG games are pretty much flawless (though personally I feel the same for TLOU). I guess a good comparison is one of the sports where judges score the performance like diving, gymnastics or ice skating. In those, and I'm certainly no expert, there are categories for technical and artistic merits. If you do a dive, for example, that is technically very simple but you perform is flawlessly, you will get a very good score - but because of the simplicity, t...
I mean, the Mortal Kombat game after 9 (and I think with a continuation of the story) has the letter X in the title. For whatever reason it may officially be pronounced EX, but I'm not going to say it. Nobody is going to say it. It's confusing. What is EX supposed to mean?
I'm sorry, but Mortal Kombat "EX" is just stupid. It's Mortal Kombat "10". Ed Boon, you might as well change your mind and pretend you were kidding.
I know it's early, but I feel like maybe Sony should offer Killzone: Shadow Fall's multiplayer for free to help the online community (and sales too). Ideally it would just be free across the board, but even if it's free through PS+ I feel like it would at least help the game sustain a reasonably community for a little while.
SMG 1 & 2 are fantastic games. However, what I will say is it is very hard to compare a Mario platformer to more "modern" games. When you look at the scope of Fallout 3/Red Dead Redemption, or the incredible atmosphere and narratives of The Last of Us or BioShock, it makes something like Portal 2 or Super Mario Galaxy look very simple. It's not entirely right to look at it that way (see my top 5 below); but I do feel like there is something to be said there.
...
My top five would probably be:
5. Mass Effect 2
4. BioShock
3. Portal 2
2. Super Mario Galaxy 2
1. The Last of Us
Man, such a horrible opinion. Are we sure opinions can't be objectively wrong?
