Looking back at Final Fantasy XIII's initial reaction, I'm kind of flabbergasted at the fairly consistent positive reception it got. It even got some perfect scores.
Look, I'm somebody who likes a pretty large variety of games. Linear games, open world games, shooters, RPG's, strategy - my taste is pretty broad. Plus, I'm a huge Final Fantasy fan (Gilgamesh is my avatar). With that being said, it is actually hard for me to understand why critics praised th...
Deja vu.
I can't believe anybody likes the Duke. That controller is so big and awkward to hold.
"Quantum Break. First game so far bringing next generation effects to the table."
I didn't realize Quantum Break was releasing before The Order 1886.
"2 new IPs with more than pre-rendered (in engine) over hyped snippets accompanied by some really nice looking black barred scripted QTEs."
I assume you mean Project Spark and Ori and the Blind Forest. Sony unveiled Entwined, which was available for sale that night. They ...

The Xbox One has been on the market a full year less than the Wii U and is only roughly a million behind in sales. Even though the Xbox One has had some pretty poor months recently, it's still outselling the Wii U.
The Wii U isn't selling poorly, it's selling horrendously.
It may seem like a small thing, but it's an example of how Nintendo doesn't offer the basic, expected online features - even in their biggest games. It's easy to scoff at the idea because it seems so insignificant, but this is just a small example. There are plenty of other games with lacking features, no online at all or confusing, unintuitive online systems.
It's not like I'm trying to say Mario Kart 8 sucks. Mario Kart 8 is fantastic, I'm going over...
*Claps*
That's the most creative defense of Nintendo I've read in a while. "Nintendo's online sucks, but I like that because I don't have to hear idiots..."
Brilliant. Just brilliant.
(It's called 'Mute').
I appreciate that Nintendo tries to keep local multiplayer a real option. They are right that it's the best way to play games with people. But, with that being said, I don't think that justifies lackluster online options or none at all for games. Nintendo probably doesn't want to invest the money to have an adequate online infrastructure for something they are scared of - and I really do think they are scared of the internet. Mario Kart 8 is a prime example. They are so invested i...
I can't begrudge anybody who wants multiplayer to be free. Honestly, it should be free. I will say though that I feel like you are being a little disingenuous with your portrayal of what Sony (and to a lesser degree Microsoft) offers.
The PS4 offers more media apps than the Wii U, and are completely free as well. The PS4 has quite a selection of Free to Play games (does the Wii U have any?) and none of these require a PlayStation Plus subscription. Plus, if you do subscri...
"It is like everything that is different on nintendos plattform, no matter how dumb and unimportant it is, they act like nintendo is the worst for not having it."
Is good online functionality an unimportant feature, or do you deny that Nintendo is fundamentally behind Sony and Microsoft when it comes to online offerings? Quite frankly, I don't know how anybody could make a reasonable argument that Nintendo isn't behind in online capabilities.
I honestly don't know. Sunsent Overdrive looks great, but I don't think it's going to sell a lot of Xbox Ones (even though I think it will have an 85+ metascore). The other two big sellers, Forza Horizon 2 and The Masterchief Collection are games that appeal to the core Xbox fanbase - a fanbase that probably make up a significant percentage of the early adopters. I'm sure the Xbox One will have a good holiday season, I'm just not sure if Forza and Halo Collection are going...
So the problem is Sony Ponies. Riiiiight. That's why you list issues that are a decade or more old...
At this point most reasonable people understand that there is a difference in power between the Xbox One and PS4. Couple that with PS4's easy to program for, straightforward architecture and just about every multiplatform will look better/run better on the PS4. This can't really be argued.
But, if Microsoft is able to produce great games that look good (regardless of resolution) and play well (regardless of framerate) then people will be happy to buy their console.
Growing up, whenever my parents cooked spaghetti they used store bought sauces like Prego and Ragu. Eventually, because I'm picky, I made my own spaghetti from scratch. And it was better than the store bought sauces. So over the years I have continued to improve my sauce until I have it just like I like it. I don't even need to measure anything it's so well known to me. Whenever I make it for friends and family it's no surprise they really enjoy it - I mean I've been makin...
You know, once again I was about to reply to you. But you know what? I'm done man. You just don't care about logic or reason. All you care about is spreading the word about how awesome Nintendo is and how crappy everyone else is. It's tiresome.
If you really don't understand the logic that the Wii U has been out a full year more than the PS4 and Xbox One, and how that is a significant amount of time at the beginning of a console, then I don't know what to ...
Forza Horizon 2 is 30fps...
With articles like this, it's almost as if some people want Sony to fail...
I get that there are some who, for whatever reason, feel that way - but that still means a difference of only 2 games over the course of an entire year. Not exactly a huge difference, ya know?
Skyrim.
I don't know how to judge Skyrim. On one hand, I really enjoyed my 200~ hours with game. However, I can't help but feel like Skyrim is the most overrated game of all time in at least some respects.
I once read that Skyrim is a collection of mediocre parts stitched together. And other than the music, the lore and the freedom of exploration I agree. The writing is average other than a collection of Daedric quests. The companions are dull and get...
