The biggest reason by far that the 360 controller is used more is because the triggers are so much better. I'm not saying there aren't other factors, but that is definitely the biggest one.
The Nvidia Shield is absolutely not a casual machine. Your phone is a casual game device. But a $300 handheld that plays either Android games which are clearly much inferior to PSVita and 3DS games or emulates games from a PC that requires an Nvidia card. So either you are paying $300 for what amounts to a controller, or $300 to play a PC game with a handheld instead of on a PC monitor or TV.
I'll admit I'm not the most knowledgeable on the Shield because I always tho...
People seem to confuse "innovative" and "different". We won't really know if this controller is innovative until it's been released and if other GamePad's try to emulate some of the unique features of the controller.
That being said, do we really think this controller is innovative? I don't. I certainly don't think track pads will replace analog sticks. I definitely don't think the really awkward looking placement of face buttons wi...
I gotta be honest, that controller looks horrible. And by looks I don't mean just visually, but I have a feeling it will be very awkward to play.
The SteamOS might be good, but I'd be willing to be the Steam Controller flops.
Final Fantasy XIV is a good MMO at its core; however, I feel like most everything else mechanically is inadequate. The best example, to me, is the crafting system. I really enjoy that crafting has its own set of skills and is legitimately its own mini-game. Sadly, it tends to leave a negative impression because there is little reward aside from better crafting/gathering gear until you are basically max level.
In contrast, the crafting system from WoW starts enabling you to cr...
I went to New Orleans with a buddy of mine. There is a man wearing a suit and is painted from head to toe in gold paint and smells as if he was never taught the importance of bathing. This man, among many things, would occasionally perform robot dances and jump out and scare people.
This man considered this art.
Look, I don't care about the strict interpretation of the word art - this isn't a judicial study. Some games are just so inherently artistic,...
People who claim the PS4 will be obsolete are just snobs. The PS3 is pathetically weak compared to high end gaming PC's yet look at a game like The Last of Us and tell me with a straight face that the power of PC's will make the PS4 obsolete.
I'm torn. I have very fond memories of playing the Gears of War trilogy with my three best friends, and it's one of the most technically competent shooters to date; but I also think Gears needs a break.
If they keep it on the back burner, I'll be fine with that. If they make it multiplatform I'll be happy I can play it with my friends on PS4. If it stays Microsoft exclusive I'll be happy for Xbox One owners who will hopefully get a good game.
What the hell does that mean? Terrible slogan.
I have a great affinity for this game, but to me it is one of the weaker entries in the series. Don't get me wrong, saying that doesn't mean it's bad (I still think it's a GREAT game) it just goes to show how great the series was for so many years.
My three biggest gripes with the game was the Draw/Junction system; the (to me) strange love triangle that I never felt was justified; and the cast overall. Squall is a very cool character and at the same time he is...
I don't know why people seem to think graphics are the only thing that comes from being more powerful. Likely there won't be a huge different in graphics in games, but rather a lot of smaller things will be better. Detailed lighting affects, smoother animations, better framerates, etc will be better on the PS4 along with a small to medium difference in graphics.
I will say to those people who believe games are made for the lowest common denominator, even if that is tr...
I remember this site gave Aliens: Colonial Marines a higher score than The Last of Us.
So I will never take anything serious from this site.
"I think that the sensible thing to do here for everyone would be to give the man the benefit of the doubt."
He works for Microsoft, so if anything we should be skeptical. One of the reasons so many people, especially people into tech, love Cerny is because ever since the reveal of the PS4 he has given a lot of specific information about the console and realistic examples. There is a difference between a Sony guy (who is the lead system architect) saying their conso...
You could be the greatest architect to have ever lived, but if your building is 10 stories shorter saying, "Don't you think I know how to build great buildings!" doesn't do anything to prove your point. By nearly every measurable and logical assumption the PS4 is mathematically more powerful with the added bonus of things like a unified memory pool and fewer potential bottlenecks. I suppose the Xbox One could be basically as powerful as the PS4, but there is simply no eviden...
Forza 5 is probably going to be fantastic; but Ryse...I'm just not seeing it. I mean the game does look pretty good, but I'd be really cautious if I were getting a Xbox One. Others have said the Ryse looks like this gen's Lair and I'm inclined to agree.
I'm surprised Microsoft waited so long to start production. I wonder how many units they will have ready for launch? I naively assumed they were targeting fewer countries at launch so they could have more units than Sony - at least in the US - but now I'm wondering if Sony will not only be shipping in three times as many countries at launch but maybe three times as many units available.
Interesting.
This would be awesome. I'll be honest, I hope it's a Vita game because the Vita needs to become a JRPG machine and Level 5 is familiar with handheld devices. Granted, I'd have no problem if Dark Cloud 3 comes to the PS4, I just wanna see the Vita revitalized.
Well, I don't think there's any reason to believe PS4 won't have the better versions of multiplatform games.
The biggest thing I want to see is hero classes - generals, possibly.
I know the Xbox 360 has always had a much faster download rate than the PS3. I don't know why that is, but hopefully with the push for digital distribution with the growth in game size the PS4 will have a net code that allows for a much faster download rate. I believe it will, but still it is something to keep an eye on.
