That quote is actually factually incorrect. For one, PlayStation Plus subscriptions carry over to the PS4 while also still being valid for the PS3 and PS Vita. Also, trophies and the friends list will carry over.

Another thing, Microsoft has stated that the friends list on the Xbox One and Xbox 360 are separate. Exactly what that means I don't know, but it's certainly possible that the friends list won't automatically carry over (though I doubt it).

I would bet the author is wrong any day of the week. Just ridiculous.

If the majority of gamers waited to buy games used then this industry would collapse.

It's quite funny actually. It appears that whenever a clearly pro-Microsoft article is posted, any anti MS or pro Sony comments generally get a bunch of disklikes - or the other way around.

I could say Ryse looks really good but The Order 1886 and inFamous: Second Son are both graphically more impressive to me, and I might get 20:1 ratio of dislikes to like.

It's just how it goes on the internet.

To me the ideal setup is a PC, PS4 and 3DS. The PC can play multiplatform games and most Microsoft console exclusives, and likely better. The PS4 gives you all of the great Sony exclusives and should serve as a great console experience. The 3DS gives you the Nintendo games that you can't find elsewhere.

I would say the Vita as well, but although I really love that beautiful little thing it is still expensive and doesn't have the same level of support that the 3DS is s...

Microsoft's continuous reversals of policies will prove to be a very interesting insight into economics and the video industry. To me, I'd be extremely worried about a product that clearly doesn't evoke much confidence from its creators nor have a true vision. Especially if some of those policies were in direct opposition to what's best/most convenient for me.

On the other hand, all of these 180's are - generally speaking - making the negative aspects of t...

Nobody can tell the future, but based off of everything we know there isn't a credible reason to believe the Wii U will have hardware or software sales that we would consider a success. The GameCube sold very poorly and Nintendo still made money. However, IF (big if) Nintendo just can't recapture the home console market and their sales continue to dwindle then eventually they would have to abandon the market. Of course that is assuming that A) they can't turn things around and B) ...

At this point I'm just going to wait and see what the Xbox One actually is after it launches. Who knows what it will have/not have and what it will require/won't require.

I definitely agree with their assessment of Grand Theft Auto IV. While there are some indie/smaller games that have poor tradtional gameplay (Papers Please, The Walking Dead), a game like GTAIV shouldn't get a pass for all of its faults. The driving mechanics are sloppy, running around is awkward (forced camera correction X|), the shooting mechanics are just average and the melee combat is poor. Almost all of the aspects that culminate in gameplay for GTAIV are average or worse. Sure the ...

What? The Xbox 360 and PS3 are pretty comparable. The 360 has the more powerful GPU while the PS3 has the more powerful CPU and the Cell architecture. However, because Cell is so difficult to program for and the PS3's split RAM, overall both platforms nearly have parity.

The PS4 is, in just about every, way more powerful. For all we know every part of the PS4 might be a little more powerful, but we won't know until they both release. Plus, the PS4's memory is unif...

Man the PlayStation had an awesome catalog of games. I can only hope the PS4 matches the scope, variety and depth of the PS1 and PS2 libraries.

There is only one HDMI in on the Xbox One, and I can only assume it will normally be used in conjunction with a cable box. So if this guy is talking about plugging your 360 into your Xbox One, that is really impractical. Plus, what's the point?

Shouldn't games, or the promise of games by respected studios, be the number one feature in a new console?

The Xbox One does offer Skype. Personally I think it's not a big of a deal, but it is something the PS4 doesn't do. However, considering Skype is on the PS Vita I would imagine the PS4 could (and possibly is) going to offer Skype if it becomes a key selling point. The PS4 will offer quick navigation and multitasking, although not with a Kinect-like feature (assuming they haven't worked on using the PS Camera this way). Smart match, like the "cloud" is a bit of a re-purpo...

I'm not going to try to justify the PS4 or sway you to buy one, but I'll give you my two cents in case it might help.

So, according to you, consoles have two basic functions: to play games and to offer other entertainment options. Let's start with the former.

Although the exact specifications of the parts used in the PS4 and Xbox One haven't all been officially announced, the 50% more powerful sentiment is something that is pretty legitimate. ...

If it means the Xbox One is more stable, then I guess that's a good thing. I don't know if the newer Xbox 360's have external power supplies that got pretty hot, but hopefully the Xbox One's power supply stays relatively cool.

I wish I could offer an actually insightful comment, but Sony is a hardware expert whereas Microsoft isn't.

But, I don't get it either.

As somebody who isn't generally interested in multiplayer, if I still had an Xbox 360 I wouldn't subscribe to XBLG. It offers nothing other than multiplaer. I would however use Netflix (which I do a lot on my PS3), and I wouldn't pay for XBLG to use Netflix which I already subscribe to.

I know a lot of people have XBLG, but plenty of people don't as well. If using Netflix cost Microsoft something then I could at least understand the idea, but it's purely a...

Although I'm not saying every game-centric feature should be behind a paywall, I at least understand. But on PS4 Netflix won't be behind a paywall. Hell, F2P games are behind a paywall.

I just don't think Netflix should be behind a paywall. It costs Microsoft nothing when people use that service, so they shouldn't be charged for it. Multiplayer really shouldn't either, but at least there are some expenses on behalf of Microsoft/Sony to somewhat justify it....
