It's an isometric shooter developed for the XB1, of course it runs at 4K/60fps on XBSX, it would be embarrassing if it didn't.
More demanding games will run at 30fps on the XBSX just like on the PS5, if you think otherwise then you really don't understand how this stuff works.
@ Minute Man 721
"Correct and the XsX was demoed doing exactly what you posted."
Some games do it right now, Horizon Zero Dawn for example. The difference is the PS5 can do it MUCH faster.
2-9 seconds to render the game world? that's the old school way of doing things.
The future is rendering only the players viewport at any given time, as the player turns you stream all the new stuff in (although some stuff like basic geometry will needs to always need to be there). Data I/O is going to be very important going forward, which in the short term makes me think that PC ports are going to struggle unless the hardware catches up soon.
"How does a system with more powerful GPU have lower draw distance or less detailed textures? How will it have more 'pop in' when it also contains an NVMe SSD?"
Because texture and asset streaming has very little to do with raw GPU power and is mostly about memory bandwidth and data I/O speed, the PS5 has an SSD config that's at worst nearly twice as fast the XBSX.
Really! You think this is a world changing event?
These sort of race related riots happen every few years in the US and nothing ever changes, same with school shootings.
And with Trump at the helm you have no chance.
It makes me wonder if many of the issues with american police come down to a lack of proper vetting and training.
It goes without saying that anyone with violent or racist tendencies should not even be considered, they should also have the sort of temperament and training that allows them to deal with high pressure situations in a calm and methodical manor. A lot of these cops seem to be extremely hot headed and arrogant which is just asking for trouble when faced with confrontation...
Neither of those things are going away any time soon, how long do you want to delay everything?
@ Software_Lover
Oops! sorry!
I happen to still enjoy the "old" ways to play.
It's entirely possible that this particular demo would run like dog shit on anything other than the PS5.
The actual UE5 engine however will of course be flexible enough to produce these sort of graphics across multiple platforms, at least that's Epic's goal.
It's most likely as simple as that yes.
There could also be an element of Sony and Mark Cerny's more collaborative approach to developing consoles that started with the PS4 and is now very much continuing with the PS5.
it has a memory bandwidth advantage if they use the split pool correctly yes, but controller lag? that's the biggest load of twaddle Microsoft has come out with for a long time.
When was the last time you found your controller wasn't responding fast enough? i'm sure it will be faster on paper but it won't make a jot of difference in peoples hands.
The real answer is no one knows yet.
The specifics of the engine and the demo have not been disclosed. It could thrive on raw GPU power or it could rely on extremely fast data streaming. Time will tell.
Less impressive than on the worlds most advanced one?
Microsoft's treatment of Rare is one many reasons that I distrust Microsoft and tend to prefer PlayStation as my console of choice.
Honestly I believe that if Sony had acquired them they would have been given the freedom to create the sort of games we know they want to.
Don't get me wrong, Sony has had more than it's fair share of controversies, but Microsoft has fucked over way more things that I personally care about.
It's also nowhere near as difficult as Hollow Knight. Seriously, Ori is not that hard, especially if you take the time to explore and gain abilities.
Pretty disgusting to hope that Square Enix pull a Last Jedi, just so the author can revel in millions of FF7 fans disappointment. Must be a sociopath.
Of course it won't live up to the hype, that's impossible in this case. But it can have a bloody good try and make people happy nethertheless.
Lot's of very misleading headlines about this.
Nick Penwarden, Epic's VP of engineering said “I can say that the GPU time spent rendering geometry in our UE5 demo is similar to the geometry rendering budget for Fortnite running at 60fps on consoles.”
That's hugely impressive, but it does NOT mean that the entire UE5 tech demo only requires the same specs to run as the console version of Fortnite, which is what the headlines would lead you to b...
