The review was very articulate, no matter how little known this site is.

Can't believe that they say these games control well.
Peace Walker on a dual analog pad has the potential to work well enough, from what I played on the PSP.

But MGS2 and 3 had some of the worst ergonomy in a mainstream gaming IP: you couldn't even move while crouched, nor could you move while in first person view.
And the camera was atrocious in 2.
The menus were also poor and forced you to scroll through each item one by one and could no...

Is what we see early in the video supposed to be how it looks in split screen?

If yes, Jesus, I can't believe how bad the players' windows are cropped. This is even worse than Spec Ops in MW2, this is atrocious.
This is the worst split screen aspect ratio I have seen.

Oh well, that trailer was what it was. The only surprise was how few surprises there were.

Now don't force me to hold the freakin A button for the entire game just to move a decent clip, and the rest will matter little.

Yes, U2 (the one I played) was a lot of fun and the polish contributed to a lot of that fun.
And I do think that Amy Hennig is one of the best writers in the business.

So no, given the current standards of the industry, I would not give an Uncharted game such a mediocre rating (the kind of rating given by the AVClub).

But the uniqueness of the product has to mean something.
When I play Metal Gear, Halo (I am sure I'm gonna get a few ...

Sure the review is not very in depth, but the point it makes is still valid.
Uncharted 3 seems to be very close to U2 and U2 was a very shallow game that felt more like a compilation of trendy gameplay mechanics (scripts, corridors, drawn out cover shooting sequences) and pop culture tropes than its own things.

You can say Uncharted 2 and 3 are well done.
But Michael Bay movies are well done too. Very polished and all. It doesn't make them masterpieces...

Gamekult are gonna love this game.

But BFBC1 didn't just have funnier writing than BF3, the level design was also much less restrictive.

How to get easy hits?

Step 1: Take comments that were obviously uttered in good fun and include them in a straightforward manner in the title of your article.

Step 2: Take advantage of N4G's low editorial standards to get your news posted on there, and stir a little controversy.

Step 3: Repeat every day and watch fanboys bite.

Wrong. They gave 7 to Black Ops as well. Gamekult just doesn't give 9s like candy. They make devs work to get it.

Not trolling. I wanted true action shooter gameplay (which Fallout doesn't have) but without restricting the level design. The level design in BFBC1 was great, lots of freedom, flanking options. The gameplay was not very polished but the mission design was great.
Then in the 2nd, they just went the easy road and now this looks even worse in BF3. Instead of further refining the non-linear military shooter concept they had in BFBC1, they just said "f* it" and went all COD...

Spoilers beware :
It has lame QTEs, tons of predictable scripts, corridor level design, vehicles you can't control, "follow" markers above the head of your squadmates, and generic characters...

Oh wait, that's not really a spoiler. You knew it was going to be just that.
No need for you to call it a COD clone... But it's just because images speak for themselves.

I think you are overthinking it. There's no "avoiding pissing off Xbox guys", the very point of these exclusive deals is to be flaunted in the face of the public.
I think they just wanted a cool announcement for E3, didn't follow on their promise, and are trying to quietly let it die.
Neither EA nor Sony will comment on it before release to avoid the negativity, but the deal must have fallen through.

You were disappointed to get an extra for free?

DLC has made me weary of buying games. I buy less now because I dread the eventual release of a GOTY/Complete edition.
Not buying Skyrim for that reason. Didn't buy Deus Ex HR for that reason.
Previously this sort of stuff was for PC releases (the Gold editions featuring the main game+addon), but now this is coming to consoles.

The worst thing is buying something that's intangible. Feels like you don't really own it.

Could have been great but the AI was pathetic. Not only was it dumb, but the behaviour was frustrating, like when you were detected by the AI, you couldn't break line of sight. They would know where you are even if you disappeared behind a wall.
It could have been great if Obsidian had bothered patching these issues, but since the game bombed out of the gate, they didn't bother fixing anything major.

Splinter Cell Chaos Theory is the most polished of all.
It's also amazingly full featured with great level design that ensures replayability, coop and a very creative competitive multiplayer (both coop and versus having lamentably been axed from the recent HD Collection).
If you have a 360 and never played this, its backward compatible and can be had on the cheap so don't miss out.

This was really the first stealth game to make me feel that when I ...

Sorry, but it is definitely the same company as Tom's Hardware, and it really is their gaming subsite. They belong to the same company Bestofmedia.

That's not really true. They gave Mass Effect 2 a 7 when it was still a 360 exclusive, and gave God of War III a 9 (which actually was a tad too much IMO; I think it was a way to patch things up with Sony after the Heavy Rain feud).

7 at Gamekult is good. They are a bit like a mainland Europe equivalent of Edge. A game really has to stand out creatively for them to give it 8+ score.

They had a decent Wii title in NHL 2K10 but they managed to mess up 2K11, it was the final nail on the coffin for the franchise.

Now let's hope EA doesn't rest on its laurels too much.
