I've heard the update did this game a bit of justice. Unfortunately, I think for a game like this the damage is done and there's no turning it around.
It's different for survival type, MMO lite games that may be light on content at release like Sea of Thieves or NMS, but for a co-op multiplayer shooter, low framerate, bad AI, etc, not a lot of people are willing to come back with so many other better options on the market.

They willfully left MS, long ago might I add. They had a golden egg with Halo but decided to go on their own, and "mostly" everything after that has not gone their way.
The problem here are these assumptions and interpretations whenever Sony might be brought up in a bad light. Even when that was never mentioned in my comment or intended.
Bungie's issues with MS were documented and it's the main reason they went independent. It's why I said "they wanted to go independent so bad" in my very first comment. I didn't realize I had to specifically state the well known problems they had with MS.

Bungie hasn't had much luck with either Activision or Sony. Whoever fault it is for that, I don't know.
What I do know is there always seems to be an issue whenever Bungie teams up with a big publisher.
There were a few less than stellar shots, but for me, the draw of GTA isn't the graphics it's how much you can do and interact with the world they created.
I'm sure there's going to be corners they have to cut in order to fit as much as possible in this game.
Bungie just can't catch a break when it comes to big publishers. These guys wanted to be independent so bad and now both partnerships after MS have been less than stellar.
Even though it's been announced for Series S, possibly using the same engine as GTA V and RDR 2 as well as resuing character models and assets, Rockstar is working hard to make sure it does not run on Series S.

I haven't seen a lot of games faltered by the series S. Not to the point where they couldn't be done or made because of it.
And I doubt this is a hurdle for a dev as big as Rockstar. For all we know, GTA 6 could just be a slightly upgraded version of GTA 5. It has been in the making since the beginning of last gen.
