What's funny is, a lot of people (especially on this site) don't realize that BG3 didn't particularly run very well on PS5. The co-op split screen that some here were so concerned for, ran like trash and considerably dropped the framerate of the game.
So these optimizations and improvements are an actual good thing, so thanks to them spending more time on the S and figuring it out.
It's funny to see everyone now express concern for high price tags on games and now giving out advice to wait for price drops or sales weeks or months later, way after an initial release.
I remember the slogan "support the dev" not long ago as some type of clap back when gamers would express how they would wait for games to appear on Game Pass.
Now it's time to wonder if services are actually a good thing to subscribe to considering how ...
Well this is some very hot trash. Thank goodness for the price increase.
It's almost as if the series S is a capable machine and not holding back this generation.
The fact that Death Stranding and Starfield hold the same metacritic score and Death Stranding's players were just as split about the game and yet DS was still nominated shows there is definitely some sort of Xbox Tax.
Game Pass doesn't disappoint.
Seeing as you had multiple characters in 5, this was an obvious progression
*Are dependent on new acquisitions along with 3rd parties.*
Exactly why wouldn't they depend on this? This is basically Sony's issue coming up for the next year, depending on third parties with hardly anything announced from their first party.
Meanwhile MS has a literal MCU like timeline of games releasing because of their many acquisitions.
*now they've cut a corner or parallel with the X and S, offering a cheaper console w...
Ouch, I feel like this could have been done a lot better
A lot of folks sure are leaving Sony as of late.
This is what happens when you have people jumping the gun for some quick doom and gloom headlines. Not to mention getting opinions from devs that were possibly frustrated that they would have to do some extra tinkering for the S. And to an extent, rightly so. But the optimization and trades are there to make a game play on the S. It's a budget console and it should be treated as such.
But I have to laugh at the rest of the crowd who actually told people that the S was h...
The series S is missing one feature, and that is split screen couch co op. I hardly call that features with a *s*.
The game is complete otherwise from start to finish.
They took the necessary time allowed to themselves and I'm sure it didn't impede the PC or PS5 version which released on time.
@comments
Holding back development means that the game across every platform would have to be further worked or scaled to accommodate the S. The game released on time for PC and PS5 with all the bells and whistles.
So no, the series S did not hold back development.
Was the game 'delayed' for Xbox series, yes.
Huge difference!
*The crow has been served to dumb fanatics and lazy armchair developers!*
It'll be interesting to see the spin that comes out of this.
Larian is mostly a PC developer and their focus was mainly with that, and this showed with the issues BG3 was having with PS5.
Split screen aside, there was no other reason why this game wouldn't be able to run on S.
So all that was needed was actual time and optimization spent on Series S to achieve what was known by other devs who are able to release their next gen game on both S and X.
Not bad for a console that is supposedly holding back this gen right? Maybe the folks at Quantum Error can work this same magic,
Naw, they can keep that.

Like I said when Jim Ryan left, Sony will not cancel their roadmap for GaaS. But what they're doing is making sure they are as engaging as possible with good monetizations in place as Bungie warned them about with Factions.
Well looks like you actually did because 12 GaaS games is still in the pipeline.
That was only because it was related to Microsoft and Xbox. Then you get the usual faux outrage.
Fact is, most major gaming companies are investing in AI for game development.
You can argue that this may cut jobs all day long, but what tech advancement throughout the ages hasn't seen jobs disappear?
Besides it can't be any worse than what we're seeing today with mass layoffs across the industry.
Yes, let's not even bother to consider that the cost of developing games are almost if not more than a big budget Hollywood movie.
The fact that they kept games this low while everything else has been raised is a blessing. But these companies can't sustain that for long, which is why we're seeing more dev doors closing and more companies laying off employees.
