Yes, yes they can. Problem is, I dont see it happening, at least not at the same rate as the WiiU will do. The reason is simple, and is the same reason the Wii is the best motion controller console, and the PSMove is a toy gathering dust: With WiiU evelopers will HAVE to use the controller, because it's not an option. And believe me, no developer will make a dedicated game with a label: "For use with PS3 and Vita ONLY".

Really? OK, i'm gonna get bashed by saying this, but I'll say it anyway: COD it's not boring, and it doesnt need to change that much. First of all, it's a military shooter, and lets be honest: You cant add or substract much from that kind of game. Change the story, change locations, guns, and that's pretty much all. Plus, thay cant just go and say "we can make it with cel shaded style". It just doesnt work that way.

Yes, wich still leaves room for a $40 processor, $40 board, $30RAM, and let's say about $50 for the lector unit, $50 for the energy source, the controller, cables, fans, the box, the work sumes more money... and then, you have your $300-$350 console.
Not real, accurate prices, but you get the idea. If it's cheaper for'em, doesnt mean the console will be exactly "cheap" for us.
Sounds kinda right. Taking in account this card is about $100, I think i'll be a card about the same range. Because smart people always forget that a console isn't supposed to be as expensive as a PC, so you just cant go and put a super-duper-ultrapowerful $600 GPU.
It's a illogical logical for gamers. If you remember, the Wii is critiziced for being a dedicated gaming console, while the PS3 can run music, movies, etc.
But, at the same time, smartphones are critiziced for not being a dedicated gaming console, while the vita (even if it has 3G) is.
And that's how logic works on the gaming world.
