I hope it'll be powerful enough to run multiplattform games. Personally, I dont think the Wii is a casual console, or a kiddy console, or gimmick console. Actually, the Wiimote is a pretty nice controller once you get used to it. Without going far, the Wii versions of COD are fun to play with the Wiimote, aiming is accurate and intuitive, the buttons are well placed, it feels great.
Problem is, is really underpowered, and that made most of developers to not make a Wii ver...
I have nothing against the gameplay being similar to RE4-5. In fact, I've been playing RE 0-3 and god, the gameplay is really bad by today's standards. What I dont like is the stupid thing being more a war and less survival. I dont give a damn about playing against 1.000 zombies with a super-duper gun with almost unlimited ammo. But I'd love to get trapped somewhere, with a shotgun, only 10 shells, and five sombies in the corridor.
Actually, it's not dead, they're planning to present it again on february.
3DS is doing pretty well. Get over it already, or show me real proofs.

I'm playing MM Collection, and I'm wondering how the hell did I beat that game when I was younger. Even with save system and unlimited continues.
There are some others elements in gaming that have the difficult in games broken. The one I hate the most is that stupid "regenerative health". I remember when playing goldeneye or quake or doom. I cared about my health, and if I was low, I tried to sneak like a ninja and make every single shot count to get to the next healt pack.

There are new franchises, as many others had said above me. What Nintendo lacks is merchandising of those news franchises.
I see nothing wrong with it. It's easier to navigate, and desnt require effort. I know many "purist" gamers hate gimmicks and want to stay true to buttons, but come on, isn't that bad. As a funny history, I'm a DS user, a friend of mine have a PSP, and he always have fun when I play on the PSP and try to navigate all menus using the screen.
