MS is like an entitled spoilsport, they feel that they should win the console war and hate that anyone would dare compete with them. On that note though, They will do just about anything to beat the competition, which, depending how they do it, either really good for the consumer or really bad.
So, I could see them radically change their "locked in" next gen console specs to "one-up" Sony. that may sound good but, what they will have is another slapped tog...
I was an early adopter for the 360 and I am not going to make that mistake this time, It is the PS4's turn for me to stand outside of gamestop at 11:55pm to get my PS4 preorder.
I will wait and see if What MS releases is "reliable" and if they have any exclusives to make their console worth getting, if it is a little more powerful, I don't care, reliability and exclusive content are a priority and what will define which is a better console.

MS doesn't design microprocessors, they are mainly a SW company with most of their hardware being made/designed by other companies.
The 360's CPU was designed by the same company as the PS3's cpu, IBM.

when Microsoft starts talking bad about a competitor, you know that they are nervous, They are so use to being a monopoly and dominating every market they venture into that they don't know how to handle it when things don't turn out that way. Linux, Android, Apple ect. are really kicking MS in the nuts, and by their statements about The Playstation, Sony might just need to be added to that list as well.

I am more worried about the loss of competition more than anything else.
without competition, we would all probably be still playing the PS2 as our main console and the PS3 would be announced on the 20th...and the specs would be only slightly better than the PS2.

Laptops generally suck for games, and a 6 year old laptop couldn't even play low res world of warcraft on it.
I bought my nephew a quad core Laptop with a radeon GPU a few month ago for school and even that won't play most games on anything other than the lowest settings.
now, if you want to stupidly go out and buy a $1400.00 or more alienware gaming laptop, sure, that will probably...

Frankly, you would have to be an ignorant flat-head to want Sony, MS or The big N to pull out of the console business.
It's a proven fact that without competition, an industry stagnates and the customer/consumer is the one that loses in the end. (with low quality, outdated hardware and games.)
so, while all those idiots are longing for a one console future, I will be happy with the innovation, quality and lower prices that competition ALWAYS provides.

I think it was a great Idea to not show the console, also, I think it was a great idea that there was no fat at this conference, No music or movie stars. Just a focus on games and hardware.
I hope that MS follows suit and has a conference without all the fat ( MS just loves flashing lights in your eyes) I just have a bad feeling that we might just see "circ de soleil" flying around or "the blue man group" with its flashing lights and banging drums. Justin...
