Frankly, I am not a big fan of MS in general and after the horrendous time I had dealing with multiple RROD's, Anything from MS after the 360 will have to be special and RELIABLE.

BC1 to me was classic, I could forgive some of the annoying aspects of the game because the characters are so great, BC2 on the other hand, fixed some of the annoying gameplay flaws from 1 but, changed the characters personalities a little too much for my tastes,

Funny, that is the exact opposite of how Microsoft has been run for the past 37 years.
It's funny, I couldn't care less about MS next console, after 4 RROD's They will have to prove to me the next console they release is RELIABLE and after that they have to show me great exclusive games other than Halo/Gears or anything kinect. and they don't block used games.
Looks like I prolly won't even consider the next xbox console for at least a year or two after release and only if the criteria above is filled.
There are ads, but not really a lot, what you get for what you have to tolerate is tilted highly in your favour. They have everything from full series network tv shows and full length unedited movies to their own produced shows and feature films...that aren't that bad either.

lowering the price of games will never happen, it's like when the music industry stated way back that with the advent of cd's production costs would drop drastically, because cd's only cost pennies to press, the retail price of cd's would be half of any other format before them, and that never happened. cd's were as much, if not more than records and tapes.
the problem is that the people that say gameplay is the "only" important aspect of a video game say it like if you enjoy good graphics with your games your a graphics whore and don't care about gameplay. and that is NOT the case, I love great graphics, music, voice acting, hight quality textures, good AI, a well thought out control setup, quality hit detection, great story ect...
but, you are right, all those things are moot without quality gameplay.

re-release every game in the minecraft style, except, maybe just a little blurry. We'll get to to the bottom of who is a graphics whore and who is a gameplay purist (when you say "purist", try saying it in the most condescending, smug way possible. or it will simply lose it's true meaning in this passage.).
While gameplay is king, I think that other elements in the game like a great soundtrack and nice graphics cannot be discounted. They are the added ingredients to a great recipe. roasted chicken may be great but Chicken cordon bleau is superb and has taken the humble chicken to a whole other level.
