They cannot force EA or other publishers not to implement DRM on their products with their own DRM scheme. But, ALL SONY FIRST PARTY GAMES ARE DRM FREE and will let you sell, trade or lend them as you like.
They can only dictate policy within their own sphere of companies and developers.

When asked about Sony's Presentation and what they thought about Sony's Used games policy a Microsoft Representative said:

"the thing is..." and immediately jumped up and ran out of the room, never to be seen again.

I'm thinking, maybe that's why PS+ will now be required to play games online with the PS4. that would be a simple and elegant way to not have online passes for Sony first party games, eliminating the annoyance that gamers feel toward the practice as well as putting third party publishers in a position that will discourage some sort of DRM just to compete with Sony's first party games.

EDIT:
But, I'm just spit-balling here, to me, this would make prett...

"XBOX One by a large margin and it actually hurts the sells of Titan Fall"

It's sales...why do people on N4G keep doing this??

If this is a non-english second language mistake, I apologies in advance.

I was hoping for a release of this game soon, really looking forward to this.

frankly, I would buy the PS4 just for the support from the 40+ first party games who are going to be pumping out stuff every year.

And frankly, I think that the sheer amount of PS4's sold worldwide and the 40+ Sony owned developers to compete with I think they will stick with the old model to be relevant in the Playstation market.

Personally, I already have PS+, Adding multiplayer to the plus model sucks BUT, if that is the price I have to pay for them not screwing with my consumer rights concerning games lending, borrowing, selling and buying used. It is a small price to pay.

and it is STILL better than a Gold subscription, I NEVER got ANYTHING from MS with my Gold subscription when I had a 360 except the ability to connect online...that's it....no free game collection or early beta access...not...

jc48573, That is their policy with all their software, from Windows to Office, matter of fact they don't even want you to uninstall windows or Office from your old PC to your new PC. They want you to repurchase them. matter of fact, I was reinstalling windows on my personal PC with the copy and code that came with it and MS wouldn't verify it, when I called them they tried to charge me 200.00 for a new code.....That is why I use Linux on my PC's now.

Sony Schooled Microsoft!!!

Except, that they will be playing the movie "dodgeball" during prime time. that's like saying that they cannot preempt the 2 hour test pattern they show at prime time.

Microsoft SOP, if you cannot beat them either buy them out (if possible) or use every underhanded practice you can to undermine them, legal or otherwise.

To MS, it's better to get caught and pay a fine than to play fair, because after all, isn't that is what money is for?

no, the cake is "cloaked" in icing......a whole different process.

Offloading some of the processing of games to the "cloud" is a big fat joke, it's about as good an idea as when QEMM on old dos computers would fool the os that the swap file was actually ram memory.

or even using a usb memory stick to increase ram on a computer running window vista.

it's like putting ground effects and painting flames on a yugo.

I was just gonna' say that!

no problem, drop all the 60.00 and up games to around 5.00 or less and there you go, problem solved :)

If they were ONLY locking the launch of a game for a certain time period, to me that would be fine, I almost NEVER buy a game at launch, let the suckers eat the full price. I am not a impatient 12 year old (age or mentality) that has to have a game at launch or my fwends will make fun of me...

"so anyone that doesn't play the games you do or like what you like is not smart?"

@hiphopisdead
That's not AT ALL what he is saying, where did manageri say in his comment that "if you don't like what I play your not smart."?

He is saying that if you are a smart gamer when it comes to the economy of gaming, the PC is where there will be no restrictions and be reasonably priced to downright cheap for a similar experience...

What it comes down to is the PC is still an open platform, you don't have to choke down DRM and restrictions on every game you buy, and you are NOT forced to buy from just Steam or any other portal that restricts your freedom if you don't like. there are other avenues to get games like gog.com and greenmangaming.com, self published games, free games.

This is not PC fanboyism, this is fact, just because Steam wants to be THE gatekeeper and police for PC gaming doesn&#...

"Also, **** Microsoft! Instead of competing by making great games, they just try to sabotage the competition through sheer muscle(cash). In the end the product speaks for itself, which is why the PS3 is now ahead of the 360 and has sold more yearly since it released."

That is all that Microsoft knows, they have been effectively sabotaging or buying out the competition for over 30 years why would they stop now? The difference is they are getting outed more and more b...
