Sony was simply smarter than Microsoft this time around, they are an old hand in the gaming console market and knew it's customer better than MS, whereas MS has lived in a monopoly bubble for 30+ years with a captive consumer base that accepted any policy that MS dictated, mainly because that particular consumer was other businesses that have long been locked into the MS environment, changing was not something that could be easily implemented without a considerable expense including train...
Randy Pitchfork should work for MS in their lies, deceit and misdirection Department.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with the PS3 or the games on it. The excuse that Min-Liang Tan uses is not an unbiased observation or rooted in any real solid foundation. I really find it hard to believe that the CEO of a for-profit organization would be a so called "fanboy" at the detriment of increasing profits by not expanding into an untapped market unless he has been given some incentive not to.
This is a classic MS back door move, (have 3rd parties claim tha...
that lucky SOB!!
Don Mattrick looks like he could be Tom Cruise's older, more annoying brother.
(I almost cannot even imagine a person even more annoying than Tom Cruise) :P
I feel the EXACT same way, He looks like a smug smart-@$$
Like the kind of person that would mock you and make weird noises when you are trying to tell him something serious, because your opinion means nothing to him.
he is actually a very respectful person from what I have observed from his speeches and conversations. He stays on point and gives the information that people want to hear. that is the sign of a good speaker that knows his stuff.
Stink! Stank!! Stunk!!!
@Biggest
Man! I love that short! would love to see Jane as Frank Castle again!!
like I commented earlier, I think Sony will try to launch 1 to 2 weeks earlier just to drive MS nuts.
It won't effect sales but, it will have an impact. :P
I think that Sony is playing MS again, they don't release a launch date and let MS release theirs, just about 2 weeks before the launch of the Xbone, Sony will announce that it will be releasing a week before the Xbone's date of release.
I think that now that Sony has the upper hand they are going to milk the heck out of it, just to spite Microsoft.
It won't change sales that much but, it will drive the execs at MS bonkers. :P
Sony has made many missteps in conducting business, underestimating Korean electronic manufacturers like LG and Samsung increase in quality and lower pricing have hurt their bottom line and most likely are some of the main causes for their TV and home electronic division to flounder.
Eliminating the OS install on the PS3 wasn't a very popular decision. also the rootkit debacle wasn't what I would call a Customer friendly move (and was illegal). heck! they probably hav...
@hellvaguy,
the difference is when you make an "exclusive deal", that tends to be a good thing for your product and you advertise them. A back door deal tends to be a deal made in secret directly meant to destabilize the competition (Sony) and get customers to view them in a bad light by a third party claiming (Razer) independently made the decision not to support (The Playstation) because the are flawed in some way EG: "no good games, or low quality products&q...
Microsoft was ill prepared to compete on a level playing field, In almost every market for the past 30 years they would crush the competition and become the only game in town, and when I mean crush, MS would try to buy the incumbent players out and integrate their technology, if they couldn't buy them they would use any tactic to destroy them all the way up to violating antitrust laws.
over the last few years though, Microsoft has seen small signs of deterioration in their core i...
@Sitdown
regarding Betamax, it was (is) a better format than VHS, but, not enough for the average consumer to care and spend more on it, also, VHS had an 8hr recording time and betamax, being smaller only had a 6hr recording time on it's slowest recording mode. so, a more expensive price and shorter record time over was a deal breaker for the consumer that didn't mind the degradation in quality in comparison, a win for JVC for sure.
But, Betamax was VERY popul...

n4rc, I've been watching you...you think you have everyone fooled with your name BUT! I have seen through your little word game...you want to make people think that you are playing off this web sites initials when I can clearly see that you name is n4rc....or what you don't want people to see, but you are to much of an evil genius to control your urge to play!!!

Take heart, there are safe houses around the world, in every country, just follow your training and you will survive this.
god speed, my friend...god speed.
Microsoft had a previous deal with Razer to make MS branded Razer products Like the Microsoft Habu. Knowing MS, they probably made a back door deal (which is a standard MS tactic)
to keep Razer from producing controllers for the PlayStation brand.
I know I will get disagrees but, all the telltale signs are there, A previous relationship with MS and a flimsy, far fetched reason why they don't support PlayStation.
Knowing Valve, they will reveal either a side scrolling Half Life tribute game or a top down comic based Half Life game like criterion did with burnout: crash!.
P.S.
that reminds me, why is it when people are screaming for a new Burnout, Criterion releases that stupid burnout:crash! download title that no one wanted?? do they want to piss people off??
no one has said that Microsoft is "absolutely destroyed" all everybody have been saying is that MS effed up and now they are paying for it. to some, even the backpedal has made their position weaker. They will recover, but with more respect for their customers. I don't know why saying that pisses people off, a company being put in it's place by the consumer is a good thing, for the customer AND the company. keeps them healthy and focused on the most important aspect of the b...
