Reviews should be primarily objective, colored by subjective interpretations of the objective information. Open world fatigue is a bad criticism for the fact that it is 100% a flaw of the reviewer's lack of diversity in content consumption rather than the game itself. The only objective fact is that the game is open world, and calling it bad for that alone is doing nothing to actually analyze the game itself.

Good thing inflated Metacritic scores define a generation. Here I thought it was cumulative console sales. Silly me.

Watched the video earlier and got a chuckle when he started the rating spiel then just said screw it and recommended the game lol

Cyberpunk will be an open world game with an overarching story, side quests galore, and assuredly a bunch of random feeling side stuff just to help build the world. All fairly standard stuff for the open world skeleton Cyberpunk is using as a foundation.

If you read the review for this game, near the end is where it basically gets blasted simply for being an open world game. Not because of what it did with the open world. Just because it's an open world game. In that re...

Nintendo has two key issues to address with their first party offerings:

1) As mentioned, announcement timing. By and large it's pretty bad as they reveal a game and then say basically nothing about it for years, Metroid Prime 4 being the most obvious of the problems. Paper Mario is pretty much an announcement timing outlier for the industry as a whole.

2) Not talking about every damn thing in their games before launch. They seriously have no idea how...

Honestly all, if you want a good review, just check out ACG's review on youtube. It's a really good look at where the game rises to the top or falls short in all design aspects, while highlighting what makes the open world of Ghost of Tsushima different from the rest of the open world games out there.

What I find dumb as a whole is that reviewers are picking this game, the final PS exclusive of the generation to say "open world fatigue" while they will sur...

I've watched enough tech YouTubers to know that as long as you don't put on absurdly little, it's the right amount every time lol

The issue is that Sony is legitimately just building a set of studios to continue expanding their game business. Everything they do is to promote the PlayStation brand on the global stage.

Tencent, nobody is 100% what exactly they're doing. They're just a giant company with known ties to the Chinese government that have been trying really hard to leech as much profit out of the game industry as they can for the past several years.

But I mean, you ...

I mean, it confuses me when a random dev or a big company suddenly comes out in major, specific support of a given console, and people somehow think the game industry is exempt from paying for promotion and that the company in question is just doing everything out of good will.

No, that's not how it works. Every piece of positive promotion you see is paid for when a big company is involved. Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo are in no way magically excluded from how business...

Is it really all that surprising? Even a budget PC from a few years ago easily outdoes the power of the Switch, and it's common for emulation of more modern consoles to step things up with better framerates, higher resolutions, and other improvements. Just compare a Wii game running on Dolphin to an actual Wii. There are significant differences that can easily turn your PC into a super Wii.

Lol no the current chip doesn't hold up well and didn't really at launch. Just look how many third parties pledged support and then haven't done much of anything on the Switch despite how attractive it is as a place to release games. Look how jank a lot of the more recently developed games are once they get ported to Switch. It's undeniably a platform currently unfit for what next gen will be doing, especially considering it can barely handle what current gen is doing.

Unfortunately, Nintendo is going to have to find a way to make a Switch successor much sooner than that. In classic Nintendo fashion, the Switch hardware was already a bit dated at launch, and it just won't cut it anymore within a year or two if one is being optimistic as next gen gets into full swing. Until mobile hardware plateaus a bit like console hardware, the Switch will basically be stuck on a 3 - 4 year life cycle maximum to maintain relevance in the home console space.

The three biggest criticisms I've seen for Infinite:

1) The story because anyone that has played the game knows some parts of the plot are a tiny bit Swiss cheese like even if by and large it's otherwise a solid story addition to the Bioshock world.

2) The atmosphere is totally different compared to the first two games. You're more in a high octane, bright world, rather than the dark, dreary, and regularly unsettling world of Rapture. It effec...

Finishing voice lines means very little in the context of a Zelda game in general, and even in a voice line heavy game, it's zero indication of how close a game actually is to being done.

Especially with this being the year of next gen starting, Nintendo needs to give Switch owners something to be excited about for the last half of 2020. Maybe Breath of the Wild 2 will come out, but it still feels like that's going to be a first half of 2021 title instead. Beyond that, I'm not aware of any announced exclusive that has even been hinted at as being close to release.

> "Both next gen consoles...are going to have a significant learning curve for development"

"I SEE YOU BELIEVE SONY IS PERFECT AND EMPLOYS NONE OF THE SAME TACTICS"

Deflection by going on a tirade to put word's in someone's mouth makes for some low grade rebuttal.

You really shouldn't listen to devs when an article is all blind Microsoft praise. It's painfully obvious promotion trying to masquerade as a genuine reaction. Both next gen consoles, like every gen, are going to have a significant learning curve for development.

It seems people are missing that $60 =/= £60 and that products generally get priced differently based on the comparative currency value across regions. It doesn't take much Googling to see that the normal price of a new game in the UK is £50, meaning that an additional £10 for digital because a couple blah character skins is effectively robbery.

lololol this "BOTW deserve GOTY" nonsense. It was a painfully average open world game with the only spec of originality being the overblown and overly required climbing mechanic. It was otherwise a bit jank with one of the worst equipment systems in a major game to date, a stunning lack of what made the Zelda series popular to begin with, and thanks to the overhyping, Nintendo probably thinks they did something super right and once again will do nothing to truly move their IPs forwa...
