The issue for me is lack of genre variety. I actually love the idea that the games will all be AAA because it’s more of a great thing so as the genre is to the gamers’ liking. For me, I’ve been tired of their “action adventure” approach ever since I finished Uncharted 2. They are a one trick pony
Maybe then we’ll get “Agent” and a return of PS Home. Pretty sure he orchestrated the Agent deal
You’re out because they want to also dip into the mobile market? Okay where are you going to go to play then?
Other than Insomniac where I 100% agree has a solid system in place (you forgot to mention how they also managed to squeeze out two major high quality VR games and Song of the Deep) would you mind giving me another example over the past decade regarding a Sony 1st party studio that pushes out games at that rate? List them all please. I have been following Playstation from the beginning and have only played a handful of games on Xbox as they have been trash up until the Zenimax, Obsidian and I...
Layden was a problem as well. If it were up to him they would still continue to only push out action adventure titles and shorter experiences solely focusing on story. They need to bring someone in who understands gaming and wants to push the envelope with some actual “Lore centric” titles that are beloved such as Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, TES, Fallout, Xenoblade, tc.
Colin Moriarty released a snippet from his Sacred Symbols youtube show that NAILED the current issue over at Playstation. In my opinion, they are literally relying on a business model from over 10 years ago and are not expanding or thinking outside the box in any way. Relying on studios that take 4-6 years to release games action adventure titles with minima depth. If Msft can successfully juggle these 23+ studios and manage them accordingly Sony is mistaken if they think they will continue t...
Adam Sessler is King
I hear the platinum for this game is b-r-u-t-a-l
Where are the Sony 1st party epic RPG’s? Nothing to compete with Msft on that front
Just finished Rogue Galaxy and Dark Cloud 2. While they both hold up extremely well, Dark Cloud 2 could significantly benefit from a full on remake as Rogue Galaxy was impressive for it’s time on a technical and mechanical aspect. Legend of Dragoon ftw as well
You obviously have not played and finished the entirety of all the entries in both franchises
I’m judging based off a statistical pattern of business behavior and decisions they’ve made over the last 10-20 years. They are not investing in new studios and genre’s, they were bailed out by God of War thanks to Cory Barlog’s direction, Naughty Dog is a solid studio but they solely focus on linear action adventure games, if they want to stay on top and continue to trend upwards they need to be more forward thinking and invest in more IP and acquisitions. Hence, currently “complacent.”
As of today? PS5
As of 2022-2024? If what Microsoft has announced in Fable, Avowed, TES VI, and an unannounced InXile AAA RPG then Xbox. Sony is becoming complacent and they will regret it in the form of market share loss by then end of this gen and that is for certain.
Which was the last year they released a Sony owned RPG IP (Rogue Galaxy) with the exception of White Knight Chronicles.
Which first party Sony dev created the game? They should be investing their own studios in the genre not solely paying for timed exclusives. Whatever Sony touches generally turns to gold and the fact that they choose to shy away from the genre is a shame.
This guy probably left Sony for Bamco knowing how pivotal RPG’s are yet Sony seems to be going in the complete opposite direction of Bandai in regards to them.
You silly.
That is the bare minimum they should offer. They are not currently forward thinking, MSFT is spending/investing heavily on this tech that will essentially permit you to play your games anywhere and on any device. You gotta tip your cap to them.
Rooting for this one big time
With Sony sleeping in the corner wouldn’t be surprised if Microsoft went and acquired Square at this point.
