Its a good point. Sony has bolstered their first party efforts to wean themselves away from third party dependency.
The problem now is release calendar clutter. Marketing alone wont help. It may be time to thin the herd
this time of year is when nintendo kicks some serious ass. It may be a bit early to judge, but it does not seem to be happening for them this time.
Still early days though
"PSP greater than DS. When last did that happen"
It has to do with the prices of the DS consoles being so close to the 3DS.
Things dont look so good for nintendo going into the holiday season though.
Saying that the 360 is 6 years old may be a bit of an over-simplification.
Wi-fi, memory and kinect have been added to it.
Sure that graphical prowess has not changed, but the hardware has evolved.
Ps3 has stayed pretty much the same with the exception of move, but the high initial price point meant the they put everything they wanted from the get-go.
Preparations do not necessarily clue in as to a lunch window. Given the mess at the beginning of the ps3, it makes sense that they would want to be ready for a quick mobilization if needed.
A lot will depend on how the PS3 and Xbox fear during the next year.
Do they really want to launch a new console at over $300 given the current economic climate?
The problem with HD consoles is that development is too costly to take risks given that the japanese mostly play handhelds now.
Very interested to see what they do on the vita. Hopefully digital distribution will encourage more localization efforts.
i still rather play play jrpgs over any western rpg (except maybe fallout)
This game may be simple, but its effect will not be.
They have achieved not only great game sales, but also the merchandising that many companies dream of. If apple embraces a traditional control scheme, the handheld market can see some serious upheaval.
The casual market is nothing to scoff at.
it would be so fuckin hilarious if the PS2 managed to outsell the Wii at some point next year
TBH, I cant see myself paying $60 for yet another shooter.
RPG or platformer...sure
But there are simply too many shooters to justify the expense to me.
If you count in K3, ME2 and UC3 i wonder if there are more shooters released on PS3 than on Xbox this year
Supply and demand...its all about S&D
N4G Fanboy Report : 100% chance of shitstorm
Recommend immediate evacuation to protect intellect.
"Btw, this is kind of offtopic, but why do people on N4G make it seem like PSN has a more "mature" community? "
Price drops have put it in the range for teenagers.
When the console was $500+, PSN was mostly adults and a lot more civilized.
gamesharing on psn makes it more attractive for me than any other similar service

Already had a camera but u can get that for about $25 as well.
I wanna play time crisis with the sharpshooter. remind me of my arcade days when i spent a lot more that that
There are people who like the xperia play.....these people use it for emulation.
i think the xperia is a litmus test to determine just how much interest there is in a phone with buttons without major expenditure in hardware or software development. its a very safe approach.
i'm more interested in the hardware direction that they take next year if they manage to gain actual developer support / start making games themselves.
The only intelligent caomparison may be with the Barnes and Noble "Nook"
All other comparisons are attempts to get hits. It doesn't even have tilt controls. I dont need to play scrabble in color.
i logged in just to give you a bubble

I remember reading somewhere that nintendo was not allowing any game to be published that could not be played in 2D....hence making my suggestion a real possibility
Was not aware that they changed their minds
If they could make a 3DS version without the 3D for $129 or so, then they could seriously move some units in the future.
Naming it would be a problem though
I think insomniac are spreading themselves too thin here.
They failed to make resistance series (which i totally enjoy) stand out from a sea of shooters, and are now diluting the quality of their main franchise.
Hopefully Overstrike does not follow a similar fate
