@jelly

No-one ever had a successful console that LAUNCHED at $600.

Price drops did not save the others

I've also played them, and i disagree.

I love crisis core and Ys seven more than any other rpg this gen apart maybe from fallout3.

Nintendo overpriced their 3DS to take advantage of early adopters and fans.

Now that that is over, they have resumed a normal price point and feigned apologies to their loyal fans.

All this doom and gloom rubbish is unnecessary. Its just some capitalism people

Yep, No-one had ever had a successful $600 console before sony showed up.

I totally agree with you except for 1 thing. I think $250 is the max that the Wii U can be sold for.

This may mean dropping the tablet, but i seriously dont think that they can compete with a PS3 which may hit close to $200 when they launch, or an xbox at $150 or lower

No bluray, DVD, crappy online (most likely)...i just dont see a $300 console from them taking off in a much more competitive market than when the Wii was launched

I dont know where people got the idea that JPGs have declined. Apart from Final fantasy, sales have always been poor in the west.

There are simply fewer of them on consoles cause japanese buy handhelds and it makes no sense going through the expense of a console game.

I agree. WRPGs suck at gameplay tbh.I get bored of them quickly. They do excel at storytelling and presentation.

Its not that hard people

1)Most JRPG sales come from japan
2)The Japanese no longer buy home consoles
3)It makes no sense making a home console JRPG unless its a final fantasy

you sir, just earned a bubble

my thoughts exactly

There are plenty jrpgs on handhelds. Get a PSP or a DS.

Unless the japanese start buying home consoles again, handhelds are where the JRPS will be

over 200 million portable consoles sold in the last gen.

Slow news day i guess

5459d ago 3 agree0 disagreeView comment

yep, and this time they actually have some competition for the casuals (MS and Kinect)

5459d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

i was actually just kidding around, but that did not get communicated in the text i guess.

It would really suck for them to miss the xmas rush.

WHy are they wasting time talking to the media?
STFU and just release the thing!!!!

Or at least give release date

The 4 DLCs were $10 apiece before this. Very worthwhile game but try not to play alone

I think he means

Steam > xbox live
Steam > PSN
(in terms of prices at least)

I dont even game much on PC and i can accept this as common sense.

there is no US company in handheld gaming. No need for the media to exert its influence.

As M$ begins to compete more for the nintendo market share rather than that of sony, its gonna be interesting to see the response of the Ninty fans. Those guys don't play.

One thing the author does not take into consideration is convenience.

A console-like experience on a handheld is good in that its easy to play quality games in short bursts via the sleep function. it takes 10 mins just to put on my console and load game at times.

I have played more rpgs this gen than any other gen thanks to the psp. Looking forward to the vita for the same reason/convenience.

i want to get one but i just have a feeling that a price drop is coming soon. I think its fair to say that a lot of other gamers are adopting this approach as well.
