couldn't have said it better myself baka. Plus when Japan does do something out there and different it gets rejected and conveniently forgotten.
yup for the most part they have charm, human, and character. I guess you have to have a pointless sex scenes and endless dialogue trees for something to be considered Mature. There is zero anything wrong with liking one over the other, but its unfair and over the line when they say one is dying or unchanging. The reason why is there hasn't been hardly any JRPGS on the PS3 and the 360. There are has been plenty of GREAT JRPGs on the other systems, but since most people live in a bubble they do...
tell me about it. Fallout is a good story, but really a bad FPS, just with a cool system to stop time and aim at body parts. Almost all WRPG's now are just clones of lord of the rings or dungeon's & dragons. All besides Mass effect are like FF12 where you control one character press one button a watch them hack and slash each other.
no JRPG's have evolved and as much as WRPGs. The main difference is JRPG's are slower paced and more turn based, which most westerners can't stand for whatever reasons. As long as their is turn based there will always be haters on JRPGs. Look at PC games. There are 100 clones of diablo and Baulder's Gate. IMO Valkeryia Chronicles is the most unique RPG out there in several years and more so than fallout, dragon age, or Mass effect. Also look at knights of knightmare on the DS, prob the most u...
just got back from visiting Japan so I can answer this. Most games cost about the same in the west. Big difference though is the games get cheaper fast there, however big releases like Monster hunter, Yakuza, or really any SE game they charge around 90 for a while to max profit. Since most Jap sales come from when they first are released they have to charge more to make up cost for big games. Shoot Dragon Quest 9 on the DS they charged 75 for! A freakin DS game!
Sorry, but when you sell close to 90% of what you shipped on the first day, thats a huge success no matter how much you sell.
There are more than just shooters on the 360, but they only sell well when they are shooters. The best selling rpgs were what? Fallout and Mass effect? Guess what all you do in those games? You shoot stuff. A game like Little big planet, or katamari (which sold horrible on the 360), or no more heroes, or lost odyssey, or any Japanese game really for that matter won't be successful on the 360 as much as the PS3, its just the way it is. When FF13 on PS3 will sell more copies in one week than th...
actually 12 was pretty good. It was solid and if it didn't have a FF name on it with all the expectations it would have been looked more highly of. Also the battle system for 12 was actually the best thing about it and I think most would agree. The gambits I know annoyed some, but I think it was a good advancement. The story in 12 was underdeveloped, and the main character was the weakest ever for FF. IMO Basch or Ash should have been the main character.
I know it sucks waiting, but three months is the fastest ever that a FF has came over, and we have more then enough to hold us over. You got Bayonetta, white knight story, star ocean 4. I'm pissed because FF 13 and Yakuza 3 and Heavy Rain comes out in the same month. Its a good problem to have I guess.
yuck, I don't think so. From My experience from gaming whenever you have multiple paths or different endings the overall story as a whole suffers. There are only very few execptions to this rule. If thats what you like stick with your Western styles, don't mess with my Japanese style. Thats why there hasn't been many great next gen games so far, because they are trying to appeal to people like you, no offense. They need to stick at what they do best, and let the west stick to what they do bes...
well yeah living there would be the easiest. I learn a lot just visiting for a week, however most people can't just quit their lives and live in another country for 2-3 years, no matter how bad we want to. lol
It is, but I strongly suggest not using it to learn Japanese. I got it for Japanese and its almost worthless. The mike does not pick up on your dialogue well and each lesson is either in Kana, Hana, or Kanji so to learn it correctly you have to do each lesson three times. It doesn't mix in three like in real life. lol. Its only good I guess to hear it, and even then they talk slower than normal, so you don't really hear like they would speak it in normal speed. Pick up another software if you...
crazy hard is right. Kana and hana are easy in comparison. I got this book on Amazon that shows funny figures to help you remember in a funny way the meaning for most kanji. Also I recomend learning the 200 basic radicals which almost all other Kanji are made off. If you learn those 200 then the others will make more sense and easier to understand. Even with all that its really hard to learn.
I still have a really hard time hearing the langauge to break it down to translate un...
yeah massive hype for me too. I just hope it will live up to it. If it ends up being good I call that an achievement.
that's actually what I'm doing. lol tired of waiting on great games and anime. lol
nope valkiyrie chornicles IMO was the best this gen. Not to mention disgea 3 was awesome.
Actually ix was just as linear. All of FF games are sort of linear. When you have story heavy RPG's you can't help but it be a a little linear. The only thing X was guilty of was not opening the world map fast enough and it didn't have a world map in a traditional sense. IX was just as linear you just had to travel a world map, you still couldn't go anywhere you wanted or complete quests in any order you want.
If you want unlinear games, then play MMO's or fallout.
if you don't like it then don't use Shiva. Each characters has a unique summon and each has some new gameplay added to when you combine that character and summon.
hate to burst your bubble but its still hard to tell exactly everything they changed considering everything was Japanese. Don't try to pretend that west games are sooo different. Thy are all the pretty much the same too. Mass effect is a great game, but all it is really is a third person shooter with party members with rpg elements. It's been done before 100's of times, just now with shooting.
Besides there is no reason why you can't just, I don't know buy both of them? lol
This debate is silly. All of it is BS. Both change, both have tons of games similar. Anime or J-fans find Wrpgs to gray, boring, short, and lacking in character development. Westerners or MMO finds Jrpgs too silly or "Cartoony", slow, and care more about telling a story and less about you actually playing. There is no right or wrong.
In my eyes I rather have 100 games like FF than 5 like world of warcraft, dragon age, or fallout.
