A above average JRPG gets 6-8s while and average sand box or shooter/rpg game gets 9+. Just the way it is. I can't stand it.
umm tons.... half minute hero, knights of the knightmare, world ends with you for starters.
Shadow hearts added the ring system. Valkryia chronicles added a cool third person/tatical rpg hybrid. Disgea changed TRPGs forever. Ar tonelico added a music cover system. Growlanser added a active or real time/ TRPG system. FF 12 added some MMO elements. Heck even last remanet tried to change things up. Thats all just out of the top of my head.

haha yeah. WKC is a better deal. Level 5 is a better developer. I mean SE say they can't build towns, yet star ocean 4 had big towns. Doesn't make any sense. WKC you can freaking build your own town. I think if you only have enough money for WKC or FF13, you have to go with WKC now.

yeah I'm sure its going to be a good game, but this if FF we expect greatness. I just hope people can detach that name and like or hate it based on how good the really is.

Still a so-so FF game is better than 50% of the RPGS out there.
new content for SO4, two new characters, more dungeons, anime portraits and jap lang. track. Umm sounds like a great upgrade to me.
it's always smart to go with the lead platform for the game, which in FF13 case was FF13. I mean come on, one is at least three discs and the other on one. If you have a PS3 and 360, its a no brainer go with the ps3.
I freaking hope so. Its been out in Japan for over a year. Hopefully in september or something.

I agree, but what makes me mad is there is totally a double standard. Yes bioware games are different than JRPGs, yet all of there games have very much the same formula, style, and things mentioned in the article. The same people who just said what you did, will turn around and complain how "final fantasy" or JRPGS are all the same and need to "change". In reality, it works both ways. Maybe the real reason you don't like is your tastes, not that its too "predictable.&...

I visited Japan and let me tell you gaming in Japan isn't bleak at all. One visit to akihabara and you never would say that again. There is nothing in the world like it. Dragon quest 9 by SE sold close to five million copies and it hasn't been released in the west yet. FF 13 in one week sold more than last remnant and star ocean combined. SE still makes great games, but they are harder to find. World Ends with You and Dragon quest 9 were near flawless masterpeices.

You don't know what you are talking about. I just gave you plenty of examples. There is only so much you can innovate until you can't really call it a certain genre. IF some changes are not enough for you then the problem really isn't the need to innovate, but maybe you just don't like the genre.
