yeah there are great JRPG's but since 2D or anime looking everyone looks over them. Seriously if I had a choice between FF13 or Lunar 3 I would take Lunar 3
well maybe thats what this gen has been missing? I don't understand your problem. What does it matter to you? obviously your not a fan of the lunar series or maybe JRPGs in general so why are you in this thread other than to hate.
hell yes, this is why JRPGs haven't been the same next gen. They have forgotten what the people wanted out of a JRPG, and stop focusing on attracting new people from the "halo" generation and go back to its roots and fanbase. More games like Lunar.
totally agree with above. Elder scrolls 3 morrowwind hundred times better than oblivion. Daiblo, Balders's gate 2, fallout 1 & 2, I'm sorry put fable, dragon age, fallout 3 to shame. I seriously think people have forgotten all the classic Wrpgs on the PC, or maybe never have played any of them and that's why to them who only play console games these games seem so "new" and fresh to them. They are merly lesser and more dumbed down versions of what have come before them on the PC ...
no JRPGs have lost their focus. WRPGs have simply took the same old formula and added some JRPG elements and you guys eat it up like its gold. Reviewers are much harsher on JRPGs saying not much has changed, same old JRPG stereotypes then get a lesser score, yet inter generic battlefield 2, Dante's inferno, borderlands, fallout 3 (sorry if you played fallout 1 & 2, 3 is nothing compared to it) call of duty, I could go on, but they all do the same things and the reviewers say yeah its the ...
no they are loosing steam, and only steam, because 360 is in the lead this gen. They are afraid to make too many RPGs different and want to try to cater to the west. The main reason why FF13 is more streamlined is to appeal to the ADD crowd of the west. They are loosing there roots, not sticking to them. Thats whats happening. Don't worry though they will find themselves. Just so happens that most of the best JRPGs are on the DS right now.

you sir are the perfect example of bunch of reviewers who really know very little of JRPGs making comments about how JRPGs are dead. There are literally 30 more RPG developers in Japan than Sqaure. All because Square and FF arn't the same anymore doesn't mean JRPGs are dead.
YEAH me too, actually its only beaten by ff13 on my most wanted games to play. I saw it everyone in Japan in November and got me eager. This is extremely good news.

what do you mean when a character dies? you do have control. Whenever something comes up you always have a chance of a character dying. What, you want the chance to kill yourself or something? You can fail the button options and let the character die so in a sense you do have control of who lives and dies. You just said it gives you tons of options and endings so how is the computer dictating anything? You contradicted yourself. What you want Heavy Rain GTA style? lol
what like final fantasy 6? Your are very mistaken. FF 6 had a steam punk style. They were robots in it. It was less sci fi than 7. They did exactly what you asked for its called FF9. lol
that same mag gave haze 37/40 so they arn't exactly right all the time.
played for four hours. Story starts a little slow but so does most JRPGs. The battle system isn't that slow. You wait till the circle fills then you can attack. It takes about I don't know three seconds for it to fill. In fact you attack more in this than you do in FF12 and no one complained that it was slow, or at least the reviewers didn't. Seriously if three seconds is too long for you, you shouldn't be playing RPG's in the first place....
not trying to take away from WRPGS. ITs not reviewers masterbating over WRPGS its more like them pissing over JRPGs. Disgea 3, valkerya chronicles, yakuza 1 & 2, Lost odyssey, rouge galaxy, dragon quest 8, tales of vesperia, ar tonlico 2, and persona 3 & 4 all deserve more respect and higher scores than they got. Only demon souls for some reason, I think because its more western, got recognized.
all of those games you have mentioned have had tons of games like it before them on the PC expect mass effect. They are not really new at all. They are just new for console only gamers. Mass effect is really a shooter with RPG elements and Mass effect 2 is even more so. If you like your story a certain way, you don't mind it being linear per say. What happens is that you weren't that much a fan of it to begin with, and when more options opened to you ie PC style games coming over to the cons...
I don't really just mean WRPGS. I mean Western games in general. Lets look at Killzone 2. I mean Killzone 2 really didn't change anything yet it prob will get better scores than WKC. Look at GTA 4. It was a complete step backwards in the series. GTA IV hand less than half of what you could do in San Andreas and yet it got praised and none of the losses were talked about. IMO dragon age origins is really average but it still got 9+ scores. My point is most western games or action games flaws g...
