There is some sort of obvious difference. I played though Uncharted 3 day one with no crashes. I Played Skyrim on the PC and didn't have a single crash either. Battlefield 3 had funny beta bugs but I had no issues after that. I know that the PS3 ports have had a lot of issues now and again but that is more of an architecture issue. It is pretty difficult to get the same game running perfect on 3 different systems much less 4 if you include nintendo.
play nice boys
I agree with you and I'm sure they have all chimed in on that somewhere here and there. It probably has to do more with how the question was asked to them that dictated their responses. Consoles are a different beast when it comes to specs though. * gigs of ram in a PC is different than 8 gigs in a dedicated gaming console. I do like the focus on non-graphical aspects of gaming sucks as AI routines, being able to enter and explore every house and building in games like GTA.

WEll, only game that I'm aware of from bethesda that you could be talking about is Skyrim or possibly Rage. Rage was kinda ID's fault at least for the PC version of the game and I never has any issues with Skyrim personally.
Games have always had patch after patch when it comes to the PC world...at least in the past 15 years. I think you are right that in some situations games are released too early due to money issues but I dont know many developers who choose it to ...
Man there are a lot of games that have done that for me. Half-Life, Homeworld 1 and 2, Mass Effect, Brothers in Arms, GTA 4, Advent Rising, and currently Max Payne 3.
mind listing some of these major broken releases?
next gen started yesterday...on the PC.
i think a lot of that has to do with development focus and lack of power for current hardware. The amount of time it would take to program those routines would be huge but it also take a lot of processing power to carry out all those sub AI tracks. Though the next gen consoles probably wont offer an extreme upgrade to the graphics already seen on today's PC's, these types of AI paths could very well be possible. Good point to make Psychotica.
Being American..i can tell you this thing first...we are not the richest country on Earth.
Though we do probably complain the most.
Is a great piece indeed. Great example cone = )
I enjoyed conviction as a stand alone game. It was fun and you could still play stealthy though it was a departure from the earlier games. I agree that SC was probably the best in the series as Conviction really didn't play to all the new strengths it introduced. A mix of the two will be welcomed for sure, maybe if they would have just branded it a little different it might have sat better with the original fan base
really? I have to disagree. I am really excited about the new music direction and think it will work great with the game. Most the tracks aren't designed to really be listened to straight through as they are multi-directional pieces that are designed to change with game flow. I like what i hear so far as it does still have a lot of that massive attack sound to it...well see what the final ends up as
You make a good point and I agree with you. I do believe though with the popularity of smaller studios and kickstarter games that this will not effect the industry as much. Pre-built engines help development times shorten and most of the AAA studios already make textures and assets that cant run on current hardware then tone it down until it works. So I don't think it should drive costs up that much.
Not sure if you have ever done map making for any games but you build ...
Be nice to each other guys...everyone knows or should know that a PC is much more powerful than the current consoles. Sure they are still amazing machines but the mods you can add onto GTA4 look better than GTA5 in the current screens. It does look great and knowing Rockstar it will be an all-star and we all will buy it on console and play the snot out of it...and when it;s released for the PC, we'll do it all over again.
Just be happy we have anything...its not develop...
Epic is about selling their engine for sure...but that actually drives cost of development down due to the fact they don't have to create an in-house graphics engine. Yes, this for sure means they have to spend more on asset creation but they have another company doing most of the optimization which is huge in its own rights.
Hey, I'm just happy that things are being PC focused again. I mean, It's been a great run for the current generation of consoles. Try to look it at it as this is one way that Epic is attempting to market their new engine and make sure that the next generation of consoles either meets or beats our expectations. Man, people are so negative in internet land. Smile, its good for ya = )
Every article about the 720 cant be specifically about games. They already have the patents in place for the gaming side...these new one are just covering extra things they are doing. Just wait and see...no need to make rash decisions on something that is over a year away.
no doubt...kinda shoots himself in the face in the title on this one huh?
I think a big part of it has to do with the modding communities also. Though its been going on forever it hasn't always been and entry level thing to get into. With games like Skyrim, GTA4, and now the DAYZ mod...mainstream is really getting a taste of how to keep a game fresh for years to come. Could also be the number of players coming down from the MMO craze and branching out to play new things on their PC's. Just a thought...
they have guns...its a call of duty wannabe...heh...funny that we have to group everything based on current popular culture.
