I think its a great move by Gearbox...and you can't say the have fear of taking risks...they are not only completely redoing the Homeword Games but funding and releasing a new one. These days...I would call that risk.
Gabe was seeing a market share issue coming with the opening of the windows store. It's funny how everyone thinks the Steam and Gabe are the "good" side of this industry. Did you know they are valued at 4 billion dollars? Did you know the gouging of devs with pricing and sales that goes on at Steam?
I love my steam and what it has done to keep the PC community alive and thriving...but they have practices no better or worse than your hated companies like EA. ...
Fair enough...if this is the case...why is Linux not a a platform of choice? Why aren't all games compatible?
You are correct. It is an OS. Full blown OS. A Linux OS...which currently lacks a lot of game support. You will see tons of indie games on Linux but AAA games will take a while to join unless Valve plans on investing (billions?) on constantly updating API's to compete with DirectX.
The idea would have been revolutionary 6 years ago.
Yup...nice positive comments guys and both great points. We are all on the same team and all platforms can benefit from each other.
I have an equal amount of friends on both PC and console now though my console friends have felt rather lonely as of late. But keep the peace guys! Both the X1 and PS$ are going to be great consoles and they will be good for PC gaming also. Nvidia will still push hard on the PC front and with the 8 core architecture of the consoles...this will be grea...
Yes the PC will be much better than the next gen consoles. Yes the consoles are more accessible. There are WAY more high end PC users than you think their are because of the length of the current console generation hardware.
But they are a drop in bucket compared to overall console users. But look at your software sales...they are starting to catch up.
Truth is...if you are a high end PC gamer...the new consoles rarely impress, if at all. If you are not, then they...
the 360 version actually got a bit better rating...though my roomie has the ps3 version while I play on the 360...only difference I see is shadows are slightly better on the 360 and the vegetation uses a better shader. Other than that they frame rate dip in the same places and look and feel the same.
Angel is right. If you look at PC gaming statistics...most people game on laptops still which is pretty damn surprising to me. That is why there are so many graphic settings still in PC games...to fit the range of users. Titan, 690, and even 780 users are a SUPER small share of the market. I would guess that the "average" PC out there is more comparable to the 360/PS3 or less.
Sorry to say it...but we are the elite few.
I would rather replace batteries than be tethered with a wire when I forget to plug in my controller. Rechargeable batteries for the win! Seems like a lot of you people must play 5 feet from your console but being in a large living room, cables = bad
yes...there is damage modeling
not taking sides but if the only online you want to play is F2P...then that's great...anything else, PS+...so you will probably get it either way.
Unfortunately everyone is entitled everywhere. It will be the downfall of everything great we have built. In small communities equality can be a wonderful thing but when the system gets to large it breaks down. It;s human nature to become power drunk and it is sad to watch everyone jsut not get along because one person thinks that their ideas about life hold more water than the next.
I find it a rarity in this "me" genereation for people to give praise outside themselves ...
but you will still buy it...and play it for hundreds of hours and whine and bitch like little girls the whole time
People will complain about anything. I am a huge Mad Max fan and really am just happy we are getting a game based on that universe at all.
Give someone a million bucks and they will complain about the taxes or why it wasn't 2 million.
Of course it will support Win8. Cmon ya'll really? It's alpha...give it time. Man, is there not enough drama in the real world without starting more with every article and tread?
PS - I don't currently run Win8 so I'm not being a fan...just an realist.
How is a one time use license a bad thing? You buy...you own it...for you. We all see the world different but for me...software isn't a commodity that degrades or loses value due to use over time. I feel in that case, if someone was to buy it 20 years from now and use it they would always have the exact same experience as me...unlike a car that degrades over time...software really doesn't.
So a one time use license doesn't sound like a bad thing to ME. Again, ...
You sound salty about your lack of freedom...then make your life better instead of dog people who have. Pure and simple.
That's sad that people think that way...just don't but it if you don't like it. Why ruin the experience for all the people who are interested. It's not like you don't have other options such as PC and PS4...ohh wait...PC is about the same thing...hhmmm...PS4 probably will too. Well damn.
These policies are not really anything new that hasn't been done in the PC space for a long time. Digital download games have long been a "license" purchase just like your OS for your PC or your turbotax that you buy every year.
TurboTax comes on a disk...I can't resell it when I'm done. I fully understand that this is a NEW idea for the console space but it is already in place in almost every other facet of you life. Can you buy apps from the app store and sel...
sad that anyone can write anything and people believe it. Sure hope most you guys don't watch the news or were all screwed...lol
