The game was worth it at its original price. MS screwed the pooch with it. With good advertising or a more steady flow of information beyond simply saying the game was pushed back again and again, that game would have done just as well as something like Heavy Rain. MS has no one to blame but themselves for the slow sales. They have backed much more ridiculous games that had a lot less chance of success.

@SOAD

I suspect it will be similar to the release of Dante's Inferno Divine Edition. It essentially cost the same as the 360 release but had additional content. That would be the smart thing to do.

You can put an HDD on any arcade version. You just remove the grill on the side.

Targets deal was even better. You got a 50 dollar gift card and the Arcade bundle for $130 out of pocket. Effectively making the xbox $80. I picked one up for the bedroom so I can get a 360S for the living room. Manufacturing date was 04/10 so its actually nice and quiet and has a much smaller power brick. Decent deal.

@Estranged

Your meh just proved his point. You said its not that it isn't because it's not aimed at core gamers, it's because it doesn't have any good games. Well as a husband and father, I can tell you that Kinect actually scored quite well with my wife and teenage daughter. My wife thought the Fitness game looked cool and my daughter dug on the Dancing game, so your perception of what games are "good" is clouded by the fact you would consider yours...

I don't think that is what he was getting at. The comment that you quoted was merely meant to point out that the aiming component is not directly affect by the eye/ball combination. Essentially once the controller is in space you can move the controller to aim because at that point what matters is the position of the gyroscopes. The complaint he has is that the eye/ball combination wasn't used to enhance aiming, that it's sole purpose was for position in 3d space. His example with...

I believe it is Ger101....Actually if you select the option in the game menu to look at DLC, it shows two different DLC episodes with target release dates.

Seriously, who the hell moves there console while there is a game in it?? If you do and it scratches the crap out of your disc, can't say I feel sorry for you because its a stupid thing to do.

Because Portal 1 didn't come from Valve. It was included in the Orange Box which was ported by EA, and was a shoddy port at best. Orange Box on the PS3 was pretty soundly ridiculed. Portal 2 coming from Valve proper and with Gabe Newell presenting it was a bit surprising simply since he has been such an outspoken critic of the system. It appears he has come around though which is good. Developers, particular multiplatform developers, earn my respect more when they don't go the fanboy ...

Check out steampowered.com. Its the site for steam. Has cool features like Steam Cloud (cloud based game saves stored on Steam servers), Steam Achievements, community features, etc. It's basically the premier digital games platform for PC and Mac gaming and worth a look if you game on computers at all.

A console game supporting steam features is great. First examples of cloud saves on a console that I can think of. This is the thing that PSN+ and XBL should have added and sucks that it didn't, in particular XBL. The cost of the service should provide me with cloud saves etc.

The main reason Newell referred to it as definitive is because it will envelop Steam. That means that it will include, in particular, Steam cloud. The benefit of this will be that you can save your game not only to your system but to the Steam servers. This will allow you to pick up and play your saves from anywhere. This is due to Sony's more open stance when it comes to online, as opposed to the control that MS has over theirs. in addition, it will store scores and steam achievements. D...

Whats sad is that MS has traditionally had pretty damn good conferences. It seems like they have just had a crisis of identity. That Kinect component of the conference should have been what got separated out with Mondays conference being the one that concentrated on the Core and 3rd party relationships. That to me was the biggest oddity. MS always totes their 3rd party relationships, and that all went to Sony this year.

Either way, welcome back Nintendo. Thanks for making me ...

It goes to Nintendo in my eyes, though Sony had a strong second. Ms while interesting, just didn't get it done....and they could have left the Cirque at home.

Starting with Nintendo though.....ABSOLUTELY. They just killed it. And believe me I had 0 real interest in their show other than wondering how poorly it would go. But of the 3, they showed the most that made the gamer in me smile. Plus having a family with 3 kids as well those are games I could sit down and really enjoy with the fam.

I don't believe Sony did all that bad. The biggest issue was simply that it felt a lot like a commercial at times. But there were definitely...

I actually thinks its a pretty cool announcement. I have the original for the iPhone and its pretty fun. Removing the touch interface for a traditional controller and PS3/PSN graphics will make it that much better. Then again I am a sucker for Diablo clones (here's looking at you Torchlight.) This one is probably a buy for me.

How do you and the folks below know that those folks were paid to be there? That seems to be a recurring theme, but where is that information coming from? I suspect they probably took home schwag bags just like at every awards show known to man (as if hollywood folks need that shit), but having a check cut to them from Microsoft?

Edit: Okay got a disagree and thats fine, but where is the proof? I'm more than willing to hear the I told you so if its presented.

I think the bigger reason to have the demo pre-recorded was simply due to the unpredictable nature of how the peripheral would react in that environment. It doesn't necessarily take away from what it can do, it does however keep the question in peoples mind. It is reasonable to suspect that no one is going to be playing Kinect in a large auditorium with hundreds of people and flashing lights. However, as a gamer it sucks to still not know what the actual capabilities of the hardware are. ...

MS should have had the forethought not to invite game press to this. It just wasn't made for them and it shows.

So here is the unfortunate thing about last nights event. I don't know how many of you have ever seen a Cirque de Soleil show, but what they described is exactly what should have been expected. Cirque is about theatrics, so it stands to reason that the event would have been all about theatrics and show rather than a traditional video game related event. As a result, what you have were a bunch of game journos and game related individuals that apparently weren't very taken by the combin...
