Haven't played any of the games in the list yet, though am getting crackdown 2 hopefully soon here. However, as to the E3 grades, I think that they nailed the scores. Nintendo definitely won of the 3, and the other two fell in line as they should have. Well done Game Informer.
@Murderdolls
It's too bad they hadn't actually seen the reaction of the casual game group to Kinect. I have seen this first hand at one of the preview events in Denver. The casual gamer group were enamored by it and so long as the price alone or in a bundle is not too off-putting, they will do just fine with it.
@MorganX
It's funny the guy that you responded to creates a list of failures meant to appease the fanboys and he gets ag...
Sorry, but i think you are completely overstating things here. Yes early on Kinect's intent is to drive adoption by casual gamers, but you are extrapolating far beyond the launch with your comment, and unless you have some crystal ball with which you can foretell the future your comment has very little value.
@sikbeta
How exactly does that defeat the purpose? It still does what it purports to do, and that is provide a controllerless means of playing games, but not every game can be played that way, thats just a fact. There are game types that will require a controller, shy of having an actual holodeck. Microsoft made this point back when they first announced Kinect. So no it does not defeat the purpose of Kinect. If I have a bluray player that can also connect to Netflix, does tha...
Hulu Plus is not just a console thing. It's an upgrade to the Hulu you currently use. What it will ultimately include, who knows. From what I can tell its access to full seasons and more HD content. If you have a big screen, a device that can use it, and don't want to pay for cable, it's not a bad deal.
Netflix actually offers a boatload of streaming content in both HD and SD. So it's just another place to get shows and movies. Also Netflix offers a greater variety as far as movies are concerned. That being said, hope that Sony integrates it and doesn't make it a disc. Netflix on the 360 is a far better experience than on the PS3 and it has a lot to do with the fact that the application is part of the Live Gold service.
Won't happen unfortunately. Way to many licensing hurdles to go through, especially now that Activision is releasing Goldeneye for the Wii. Yeah I wouldn't hold my breath.
I hope I get my invitation soon. I pay for my Netflix subscription as it stands now, and anything that gets me further away from the costs of DirecTV, which are not cheap mind you, is welcome. $10 to be able to watch all of those shows on PS3, Xbox, PC, Mac, and iPhone......there are worse and more expensive things in this world.
Two reasons I can see this happening:
1. Sony is going to want to add additional reasons for people to subscribe to Playstation Plus. Currently aside from the automated updates, everything else is available to anyone, barring the costs. So adding PS Plus gives it a means to differentiate PSN and PSN Plus.
2. Unlike Netflix, I would see them trying to create a fully integrate experience for Hulu Plus, not just a disc that loads up the application. I know as ga...
Sorry Mark Rein but I just can't agree with you here. The iPhone is fun in its own right for games that provide simple short bursts of gaming. However, will I ever do the majority of my gaming on an iPhone, god no. Not until the thing gets proper controls. The touch screen only, virtual pad and buttons, just kills me. Earthworm Jim is a perfect example of this. Its fantastic on the iPhone graphics wise, but the virtual controls break the game for me.
KI, Battletoads, a platformer of the quality of DKC. Rare has it in them, so I don't know where the disconnect is. The fans have been asking for KI and Battletoads since MS swallowed up Rare, so what the hell??
Aside from PDZ, what IP did they screw up? The only remake thats come from them aside from that is Banjo, and that is actually an interesting game. It's obviously not the platformer that the other Banjo games were, but the core game mechanic was interesting in its own right.
EDIT: They did bring Conker to the OG Xbox, but beyond the multiplayer, the game proper was just what i remember so as a remake it was fine. PDZ to me is the only retool that maybe wasn't what I ...
Everything is noticeable when you are the one watching, but having played it it is not a bother. And move has its issues with lag as well so it is by no means a perfect solution. Both have their place, each company just took a different approach. And your comment in a sea of negative comments from the general N4G public will do very little to affect the success of either.
It was noticeable, but by no means unplayable. To the people playing though it didn't seem to make a difference. And I didn't really see anyone that wasn't having a fun time with it. Then again, these were by no means the hyper critical core gamer crowd. It was mainly younger kids and their parents.
The games I saw played were the Rafting game, the obstacle course, and the dodgeball game. I got a chance to play the Obstacle Course. The system didn't seem to h...
You would think that would be the case, but I went to the event at the store in Denver at Park Meadows. Honestly, little kids and parents that were a few years removed from myself were actually rather taken by it. The younger kids were having a ball with it. So the aim at the casual market is a solid one by MS. Frankly I don't think it will price out at $150 (at least i'm hoping it doesn't.) If they come in at $100 or maybe even $120, and market it like I figure they will, It will...
Actually the plug is just so that it can grab power from the system as opposed to its own power supply as is the case with the Kinect and an old style system.
The deal isn't over, it is still active until July 17th or 18th, it simply means you can't pre-order and take advantage of it. However to get the deal you have to be lucky enough to get into a store when they have a shipment and hope all the systems aren't eaten up by the pre-orders. So no Gamestop didn't kill the deal.
Eternal Darkness was and still remains a classic and as such few titles compare. Alan Wake is no Eternal Darkness. I do believe you are short-selling the story though. In particular the number of different ways you can interpret the ending. To me that is the testament of a games worth. If it is something that I am still keen to talk about and more fully explore after I have completed it, then to me it is a success. I have yet to play on Nightmare, so there are still manuscript pages I have no...
You hit it dead center dizzleK. It's n4g dredgewalker, there isn't much in the way of sense when it comes to the agree/disagree feature. Simply a fan boy tool and too often used counter to rationale conversation.
Got mine last week on Friday. Traded in my Premium system and a bunch of other stuff and ended up paying 20 bucks out of pocket for it. I still have an arcade system that I bought from Target on the cheap, and will say that when I unboxed the 360S, it did look smaller. One other thing, the heat that builds up on the S seems to build up just above the fan vent (I lay my system horizontally.) The rest of the system was actually cool to the touch. All in all I do like the new style.
