Actually they did it on purpose. He states don't try this at home or anywhere else, so they knew what was going to happen. Honestly, big deal. Everyone knows this. Don't do it.

@OooSheet:

If you bought DLC for a game are you more or less likely to trade it in? I would say less likely because the minute you do that electronic good that you just purchased becomes worthless. So I'm not sure your argument holds.

I'll give you a couple reasons why that argument doesn't work.

1. Development dollars. When a developer comes up with a game, most assets are only really useful for that game. While they may get an engine that is reusable, most everything else is a one shot deal unless the company is able to release a sequel. This is not true with cars. Development in cars is useful across the entire product line so less in much more out.

2. When you buy a car how l...

Anyway my post was way more longwinded than I planned. The main point is don't be so quick to jump on the game industry for worrying about used game sales. There is apt reason for them to be concerned. On the flip side, the games industry needs to give us better reason to support them with our wallets. It can't simply be that you hurt our wallets when you don't. On a side note, I don't buy used games. For 1, I consider myself a collector. I am the same with games, music, and m...

Removing any of the arguments about the developers or lack of creativity and sticking straight with the economics, the authors 3rd or so paragraph nailed it. Video games have a very different shelf existence than books movies and music. Much as people lament the piracy of movies and music, those artists and studios make the majority of their money on concert and theatre ticket sales. So even if the movies are rented or the music is pirated there is still a huge revenue stream going to the peo...

All I can say is God I hope so. Tim Schafer and his crew are funny as hell and always original. I just started playing Brutal Legend and it is definitely a different kind of game.

Thats very true Delive. It's really a matter of weighing the positives and negatives. Do you sign with a publisher and lose a bit of control but gain a broader audience or do you self publish and potentially lower your exposure and as a result your audience.

Thats what this all boils down to regardless of what fanboys on either side say. Reading the original article it all seemed to do with what they would compete against. There really was no other way to read the article. He did state that Sony was easy to deal with when they were shopping the title, but that doesn't exactly give much in the way of context. Aside from the Indie games channel, Live is restrictive to a point, requiring publishers or some exclusivity if MS takes the chance to p...

I'd still rather get a system with a hard drive in it. MS is still missing the point by not having every system include a drive. This is an old argument but i think it hurts devs not knowing what the base line is for every system. This doesn't exactly help. Though, at least by putting something bigger than 512 MB in there you give devs a little more to work with if they choose to do a lot of caching to the usb stick. Still, i think it kind of sucks.

Why wouldn't you be able to add on a wifi adapter exactly? It plugged in via usb, the thing has 5 usb ports on it. What would make you be unable to attach one?

@Zir0

The clip is for aesthetics, it has nothing to do with functionality. If you look at the N Adapter it also has little legs that fold out so you can sit it on it's own.

I would think it has more to do with this:

For instance, we’re the publisher on Joe Danger, probably the world’s smallest, so we do everything from marketing and testing to getting the game localised. PSN is the only platform that would allow us to do that.

There is a place for this on XBLA, under the indie games section, but those games dont get near the level of backing and have much tighter restrictions on them. So yes, by design XBLA Arcade is a more &quo...

You did read the article right? He said nothing about the quality of one system vs the other. What he said is essentially that there are too many games that release at once on XBLA to have a good shot at getting noticed. Actually to me it's more a backhanded slap at the PSN which I don't think was intentional. He is saying that there is basically less to compete against on the PSN.

I wouldn't bother trying to find any logic in why you would get disagrees. There is none.

Why not just get a new one for 30 bucks more? The Arcade is only 149 and if its from the new lot, its literally just as quiet as the S (I have both so I can attest to this.) I would be more inclined to trust a new box that you can check the manufacturing date on etc then get a refurb.

@ReBurn

When I read the comment I wasn't sure who he was calling a fanboy either. Frankly I still can't figure it out. In any event I thought your post was neutral and very welcome. Having both a new 360 and a PS3 slim, I think both redesigns are great and look good sitting side by side.

5671d ago 5 agree2 disagreeView comment

Wow dude, so what? You think that when the PS3 slim initially released that a lot of the folks who bought those weren't people who already owned PS3's? I know I was.

5671d ago 12 agree1 disagreeView comment

Definitely quieter than the old systems, but noticed that it isn't all that much if at all quieter than the newly produced systems. My old Pro was from 2007, that thing sounded like a vacuum cleaner. The arcade I bought was made in April 2010. It is just as quiet as the new design. So they definitely addressed that later in the old designs life.

As you mentioned, heat definitely comes from that top fan. I didn't notice it anywhere else on the system. And as you mentio...

If you are lucky enough to catch a gamestop that still has systems in stock you can still take advantage of the trade in promotion. Had a friend of mine that lived near a store here in CO that had some extra after the preorders and was able to bring all his stuff in with him and still get the deal. So best suggestion is to call the stores around you, particularly if you have a decent relationship with the staff, to call you in when they get their next shipment. If it happens before the 17th o...

I think that people mistakenly tied the sales of the system to the redesign. It had more to do with monster hunter than any change in the hardware.

5671d ago 21 agree0 disagreeView comment

People buying redesigned systems is nothing new and happens with all consoles. As for Sony starting the slim trend, thats not correct. System redesigns have been happening for quite a bit before Sony became involved in consoles.
