Also for all those people who think of memory on consoles in same way as for memory on PC i.e. next gen we need 7gig etc, (I'm getting sick of mention of what ram is needed) then please read the comments in the thread below and you might just learn something!

Tied in with the memory is the fact that compression on PC is less of an issue as the game will of course be installed as opposed to the traditional 'play-from-disc' console method (and yes I realise more and more console games have installs now).

Additionally decompressing the data on the fly is also less of an issue on a PC due to pure brute strength in general purpose CPU, GPU and memory.

@NukaCola Despite the disagrees @firelogic got he is in fact correct. The data read difference between BD and DVD is negligible, see below table.

When you also take in to account that BD games tend to repeat data around the disk the difference becomes even less, also whilst DVD discs can be mastered to push data to the (faster) outer edges of the disc, with games getting bigger and bigger there is now less room to do so thereby nullifying any difference in data read speeds. ...

@nycredude I agree with you... the No.. no no's were for @Peaceful_Jelly and anyone who agrees! :)

@nycredude and @Peaceful_Jelly NO... no.. no..

Do you realise what resolution movies are in their raw 'on-roll' format?? To give you a clue look at the size of the screens they were played on, and I don't mean the small multi screen cinemas there are now!

Movies were, back in the day, mastered to DVD because 90% of the resolution wasn't needed. So Blu-Ray allows them to retain more of the detail and resolution. I will agree some Blu-ray editio...

AND.. what I think of people whether friends, when making friends or meeting new people, what console they play NEVER comes into it.. There's more, way more, to life than gaming!!

(Generally Speaking) the PS3 owners I know are 25-35 and have full time jobs and the 360 owners I know are 15-25 and have less expendable income.

If you pre-order you have time to save the money and if the price changes on a pre-order you (generally speaking) pay the lower price.

Myself personally.. I will every now and then just go out and buy 'Cash' 4 or 5 games that I've wanted.. For example in April I dropped 300 quid playing catch-up on a...

"PS3 owners have enough games to play already so shun Modern Warfare 3 pre-orders" << There you go.. Article title corrected!

LOL.. I buy many many games on PS3, many of them for keeps, and I have NEVER pre-ordered.. maybe (generally speaking) PS3 owners have more expendable income and don't worry about pre-orders plus, as already mentioned, they probably already have more games to play than they have hours to play them!

Edit: Many ma...

Hideo did also say in his Tweet (where this articles pictures came from) that the shaders are temporary.

The earlier E3 stills and video are better and although they also seem shiny to an extent it's in keeping with the enviroment!

http://bnbgaming.files.word...

Not sure these are supposed to be seen as stills but rather moving to illustrate facial animation!..

I'm sure, well I hope, that it's only shiny as facial textures aren't the point of this and that they can be improved well beyond what's shown.

Mine seems fine.. havent read the article but I assume they did check that the (PS+) auto update was activated in settings and that they are set to log in automatically??

I know some people didn't check or change the settings and needed to after the update!

Why-o-why.. 9 out of 10 people I know with a Wii have it gathering dust somewhere, plus the Wii isn't exactly a big console in any case!

This smells of Nintendo trying to make some money as they're thinking the U is going to fail or at least not meet expectations.. Maybe shareholder pressure is getting to them after the 3DS. Plus I think people are sick of the 6 different versions of the same thing deal ala DS!

The entry PSP thing I can see as it migh...

I think @chaos-lockheart meant the PS2 beats out the 360 in weekly, monthly, yearly sales etc, not lifetime sales... that would be a stupid comment!

Well originally didn't interest me then I saw the trailer LOL.. Its such intentional maddness that it might actually be fun..

That said its not a day-1 purchase I have too many of them upcomming and I am playing catch up at the moment too as I bougnht about 40+ games a couple of months ago some of which I'd sold when I was scratching about for mony at the end of last year!..

LOL... Not.. I repeat.. NOT gonna happen... PS2 emulation is hard enough and struggles even now.. 11+ years since the PS2 released! emulating SPU's (seperatly) the XDR RAM, some in software, is a coders nightmare.

I do realise that even 24 thread rigs are possible and within reach of users, myself included as I'm looking at building a new rig at the moment.. 2 x Xeon 5650's maybee! :D http://...
