Hmmm.. Just wondering if 4k could be used another way other than 4k stills or video i.e. 3D 2k per eye.. Or single screen duel vision (like Sonys recent 3D monitor) 2k per person.. Or.. 3D projection, the 4k (effective) would get munched up there quick time!
Much as I would like to see those things a fully expect 4k support for stills and movies I would expect its use to be limited in games much like true 1080p is for the PS3.
Yeah course.. 320 x 200, 8 colors, doesn't get much better than that!

@DJMarty To correct you it was one of the 'first' home computers, so what do you expect. Also there was no GUI / OS to speak of (MOS), you were effectively on command line so if you wanted it to do something you had to program it... not a bad thing for budding programmers back in the day! ...

My guess is Apple release the iGame console this year and then the iGame2 in 2013, then iGame3 in 2014... etc etc.. thereby throwing the whole console generation thing into disarray and confusing fanboys everywhere!

So by your very own reckoning of a console relying on third party support meaning it's not supported your saying Microsoft are not supporting the Xbox 360? I often hear Xbox only gamers state that exclusives don’t matter and that third party multiplats more than make up for it.. so why doesn’t that count for the PS2?

Unfortunately we tend to (myself included at times) compare games against 'cream-of-the-crop' blockbuster games, which we really shouldn't..

Well its bad business I think to confirm a next gen console before your ready to pop it out the door as you will inevitably lose 'current' gen sales.
I'm still somewhat lost as to why Nintendo did exactly that (Wii-U) when the reveal wasn't finely polished and ended up leaving people confused as to what the hell it was… a new controller.. or a new system!

Whilst I'd like to agree and fully expect 1080p for 'major' franchises as minimum.. I wouldn't like to see the the next gen consoles being restrictive in this way and as such stifle new / Indie devs!..
I would take Gameplay, Story, Art style etc over resolution every day of the week, I can think of many great games that aren’t even 720p and also many games that are nearer 1080p but are complete shite!..

The history of Sony and Microsoft I had assumed was known by all and I was worried that if I went to that depth with them I'd need to do the same for every company that has risen and fallen in the last 35 years of home console history.. That would be A) No mean feat and B) make for one heck of a long and most likely boring (albeit informative) post! :/

The above said, I don't think I expect it to bring back them old feelings but I'm not sure that would even be possible with or without the original team!

Coming from a PC background in some ways I'd say K&M but that said I think after only a short time you adjust and its somewhat more pleasurable playing with a controller due to the increased difficulty e.g. FPS - Mouse vs Analog stick.
Depending on the game and layout of the game in particular (RPG/RTS) I might have a slight preference to either controller or mouse!
