We're not light years away, it can be done. As long as you have a graphics engine capable of believable facial and body animations, communicating a meaningful story through interactive characters isn't that far fetched.
Uncharted has already done it. The game has the best animation, lip sync, and character profiles seen in any action adventure game in history. And that's not even including Uncharted 2 which is already set to raise the bar even higher.
Gamers just hav...

When will idiots learn that photographs ARE NOT SCANS.
Put the magazine on a damned SCANNER. We don't want to see your dumb camera FLASH covering half the stupid page.
Capiche?
Full of win.

Fat Princes?
Is there a sequel to Fat Princess already?
lol
I'm pretty sure it's actually part of developers' job descriptions to keep up on the competition's games.
Hell even if it wasn't, I'd still keep up on other games because I like to play all the games I can lol.
Yeah, next GTA in 2010 that isn't even announced by the end of the 3rd quarter of 2009.
Yeah freaking right. Pachter can go pack his analysis up where the sun don't shine.
Thanks, I try my hardest.

Wow, the texture difference is very apparent and improved on the PS3.
Better lighting, richer colors as well. And better depth of field.
But honestly, I would expect all this because the developer has had more time to work on the PS3 version, therefore enhancing it.
EDIT:
Honestly, if you can't see the huge texture difference, and the obvious lighting and atmosphere changes, then you're either:
a) in denial
b) blind
...
Are you serious? If anything, it's the other way around.
Nintendo took Sony's idea of motion control with the original EyeToy and put it into a wand and an IR receiver.
Nintendo was a generation late switching to DVD format.
Nintendo doesn't have DVD player capability.
Nintendo doesn't have built-in high capacity storage.
Nintendo doesn't manufacture an HD system.
Nintendo is a generation late in introducing online...
Although that does provide a glimmer of hope, that is for "Nintendo-related titles" only. What exactly that means, I'm sure we'll find out.
Not a whole lot of these sh*t titles are gonna get through anyways, because Sony still has a concept approval process and a quality assurance process, unlike Nintendo which did away with theirs back in '03.
LMFAO now that one is funny
Oh come on, how can you not, at the very least, chuckle after watching that?
I lol'd
Are you serious? lol
Never thought I'd see the day when HipHopGamer was compared to Obama.
I really hope they give more physical indication of bullets hitting your enemies, because frankly I can't stand when I pump a 30 round clip into a guy and all I see is some jerking animations and a collapsing ragdoll.
Add some blood or something, or bullet wounds...whatever can help give more weight to the guns and your shooting.
It's all about the lighting and reflections.
Light determines how we as humans perceive things. When lighting is mimicking real life, then it makes it much easier for our eyes to accept what we're seeing.
And clearly the 128-bit HDR lighting and incredible reflections seen in GT5 are working very well for it.
