Unfortunately, due to the way you posted the news, you're going to get some xbots screaming that divx is ALREADY supported due to recent dashboard update, but whatever.
The reason I tipped this off (although this is from nov. 13th):
The PS3 will be a divx certified device. That means that the ps3 will be able to STORE and PLAY divx files.
The 360 justs STREAMS (plays) divx files from a non-internal source (cd / dvd, external HDD, media center pc, m...
Yes, until Microsoft pulls the cork out of the 360's a$$, you won't see any divx files coming into the 360's hard drive.
I love the PS3 for its diverse media capabilities.
This picture-in-picture thing will be so f-in cool. I won't even have to pause to watch special features!
Imagine...there's a director VIDEO commentary that runs along with the movie, so you can see his / her face as the watch the movie along with you, AND hear their comments!
...
I can't stand news that quotes a source, then posts a link that sends you somewhere that ISN'T the source of the quotes.
I would at least like some recognition that I took care to make my post short and concise with a link directly to the source of my statements.
the "other news story" being another ps3 divx news post from n4g.
That lame post is here:
http://www.n4g.com/industry...
which takes you here:
http://seekingalpha.com/art...
which takes you here:
He doesn't even link directly to a source.
All he does is link to a blog that links to the source.
This is straight to DivX, Inc., and I guarantee you most people just read the blog he linked to, not bothering to follow any more hyperlinks on the blog they just jumped to.
And the other news story is even worse, with a link to a blog that has a link to a blog that has a link to DivX, Inc.
How lame is that?
I'm just try...
YOu must understand that **** I **** posted this in response, not DivX, Inc.
I have not seen any recognition of the official press release here, that's why I posted it.
The elevator rides, in fact, are of course just a disguise for loading the next area's content.
That's what you get when everything's put on a DVD 9.
The PS3 will become a Fully-certified Divx machine, not just stream-capable, but also able to play stored Divx files as well.
Not many people I know have Windows Media Center.
Without it....divx for 360 means next to nothing.
gotta love honest journalism, eh?
At least gamesradar doesn't fire its workers for having integrity and self-respect.
**cough** CNET **cough** GAMESPOT **cough-cough*
to those of you installing new HDD's in your PS3s, try to stick with 5400 RPM drives....if you don't, it may cause problems.
Ps3 owners, the 360 can only STREAM divx content from an external source, not play it directly from the hard drive like we will be able to do!
Our PS3 will be fully DivX CERTIFIED!
That includes divx for in-game video, too!
The 360 did NOT beat the ps3 to the punch...lol don't let that fool you.
was only added to the 360's WINDOWS MEDIA CENTER ***streaming*** ability.
So if you don't have a Windows Media Center PC with streaming set up, say goodbye to your hopes of watching anything divx on your 360!
Ha!
does not play the divx files.
The divx is only being watched from an external source.
You want to see something in divx?
Hope you have a pc and windows media center!
This guy's got nothing better to do than make mass general assumptions about people he knows not.
*rolls eyes*
Shut up.
"360 supports more video formats"
??????
- MPEG-4 SP (AAC LC)
- H.264/MPEG-4 AVC Main Profile (AAC LC)
- MPEG-1 (MPEG Audio Layer 2)
- MPEG-2 PS (MPEG2 Audio Layer 2, AAC LC, AC3(Dolby Digital), LPCM)
- MPEG-2 TS (MPEG2 Audio Layer 2)
- AVI
- AVCHD (.m2ts)
Those are PS3 supported video formats, playable directly from the console.
Here are current 360 video formats:
that when you download HD stuff from XB live,
It's only a rental.
And...once you start to watch it...you only have 24 hours thereafter to finish watching it before it goes BYE-BYE!
I had a 360 (4 of them, actually....they all kept breaking), and due to how loud it is, I had to crank my sound system significantly higher during the quiet parts, or turn subtitles on, just to understand what was happenening in the movie.
And Microsoft's ...
Amen to THAT!!!
Amen to that!
Xbox live did nothing but show me the very definition of immaturity!
The types of people I encountered were:
B!tch3z
Whiners
rude people
name callers
little hyper kids who wouldn't shut up
gangster-wannabes
no-lifers
defensive people
angry people
loud people
reckless people
pain-in-the-ass people
non-cooperative people
tasteless people
classless people
mouthy ...
that PS3 developers can use DivX tools to put high-quality in-game movies into their games, instead of the uglier lower-quality crap you see with RAD tools' Bink video that's used in a LOT of games.
Higher quality video should be a standard anyways due to the large storage capacity of blu-ray.
