Man, I really don't know which Game of The Year is my favorite game of the year, this year. This, Witcher 3 or possibly Arkham Knight... or Metal Gear Solid V. 2015 is gonna be fucking excellent.
I think they've gotten pretty good at it this gen actually. Even Dragon Age Inquisition got some pretty substantial upgrades through patching. Several game features were added in, that weren't even planned to be there originally.
Yeah. I don't want Witcher 3 to end yet, so I'm procrastinating between other games I have beaten before, lol. I even started Metal Gear Solid 3 again.
Truth be told though, Witcher 3 has a lot of content and I do feel like it can bee too much of the same if you play it for 50+ hours and you want to explore every nook and cranny.
Haven't beaten it yet, so I really can't comment, but so far I thought Witcher 2 had a more impressive take on choice/consequence. It was just that 2 was more niche and unappaealing to the casual audience for enough people to take note.
The second I got the rewind effect in EP1 I was like "doesn't this mechanics just negate the choice/consequence idea?" and right I was because then in EP2 when the situation was most dire, the game comes up with a contrived excuse for why you couldn't use rewind in the moment of choice, so it's pretty shallow, really.
And meandering really is the right word for this series. It has some memorable characters, some good lows and highs but it doesn't fee...
I co-opped through the entirety of Forbidden Woods on NG+ while also PvP'ing with a player. That was adrenaline-pumping and unforgettable. Me and the co-op buddy were both close to death at least 7 times but even so, we went on to fight Shadows of Yharnam with 400k echoes in our pockets after we beat the adversary.
Hmmm not really for me, but I do love the Witcher 3 because it has that sense of discovery and the sidequests, subplots as well as the main plot are intriguing and often memorable.
Always reassuring to know that the guy in charge knows exactly why people love the games he and his company puts out.
I wish I could apply that idea to Bioware.
I have to say, I feel like W3 so far (20 hours in) is Great characters & decent plot whereas Witcher 2 was decent characters & great plot.
I sorta miss the pacing of the story in the second game though, but I knew it was gonna be this way when I heard it was open-world. There's a lot of story-padding but luckily almost all of the writing is really good, and the cutscenes are well animated.
Gives Bioware a run for their money.
I guess music is entirely subjective, but I am in love with the soundtrack for this one whereas I thought W2 was kind of just decent.
It doesn't have any distorted guitars this time, but those cellos and screaming vocalists just sets the tone perfectly.
QFT. Funny you got so many dislikes from that comment. Did you know a game has to be built to have DLC support in order to get proper DLC expansions? Of couse BB's DLC was planned to have DLC a long time ago. Nothing sinister about that. We're just incredibly happy they didn't need to shove this in our faces with pre-release marketing or season passes.
I do agree with his points that Witcher 2 has a much more snappy pacing and a more impactful opening. After an hour or two I did feel a bit let down that The Witcher 3 was starting to drag a little bit in setting up the plot.
In many ways Witcher 3 just feels a lot more like Witcher 1 in its vibe, all the way to the pacing of its plot. I don't know the ultimate outcome(s) of things, but so far it's still very good and some of the new characters are great.
For the most part I just think it's the foilage detail that's lacking. It all looks amazing in motion but once you zoom in on the grass and stuff you'll realize it's actually lower resolution than in Witcher 2. I don't see why CDPR can't just make a high-level foilage setting for PC users.
Hah-hemm! Deadly Premonition did this already. It's not a "New" feature just because it's in a less obscure game ;-)
Xbone is not 720p. The video is, but the real game is 900p-1080p on XB1.
F**k Konami.
How will it work?
Well:
Geralt accomplishes his mission, during daytime; Ciri lives.
Geralt accomplishes his mission, at noon; Ciri lives.
Geralt accomplishes his mission, by nighttime; Ciri lives.
Geralt accomplishes his mission, by dawn; Ciri lives.
Geralt accomplishes his mission, during daytime; Ciri dies.
Geralt accomplishes his mission, at noon; Ciri dies.
Geralt accomplishes his mission, by nighttime; Cir...
I'm pale green in the face now. Thanks for the nauseous memories.
For the love of god, just stop announcing things like this before the game releases. This might just be the calculation of some nerdy game developer who thinks 30+ ending variables mean there are 30 endings when in reality it might just be one exclusive ending but with a character swapped out here and there.
DON'T fall for these things, internet people. CDPR is just another game developer. Time will tell they aren't really that much better than those people say have f...
A lot of the disrespect towards Ubi comes from the fact that they milk the shit out of their franchises and they have too many cooks in the kitchen.
Unity feels kind of alive but Witcher 3 does this a lot better by giving NPCs unique tasks and using the NPCs to set up the world and lore in a really deep way. The amount of random events that can happen in the biggest city left a mark on me, and it just feels like one of the most alive worlds ever... and 200 people made this ga...
