Actually, the hardware isn't outdate this time. The rumored GPU is a 2011 GPU and the CPU is custom built using ideas from the Power7(Cell and Xenon are both Power5 era).
It also features 4 times as much RAM as any console to date and a disc drive that is 5 times faster. It also features a full functioning OS and social network.

The Upad will not play movies and games. It has no components inside to do so. It simply receive a video feed much like the Wiimote could receive audio feeds and save data. I guess that make the Wii mote a telephone. The GBA could play videos and games so I guess that makes it a tablet as well.

Whether or not a Wii U game will use the "gamepad" is 100% up to the devs. Nintendo isn't forcing them to use it last I checked.
I would expect this, because it would allow games to be made that use 100% of the graphical resources just for the game and not for streaming to two output devices. Not that streaming to 2 screens will eat that many resources to begin with.

Why are people so obsessed over every neative thing they can find? I've seen nothing but reports about the same handful of problems but hardly a word about how good the new games play or how the features work on the console.
I'm guess they must be good, because if they were bad then there would be about 30 articles on each one a piece right now.
