You do realise that the current issue has only effected a very few owners and not the vast majority that the PSN effected. And they are getting a brand new 250gb system and 1 year Xbox Live in replacement for their 4 year old console.

Yes originally when rrod issue was at hand they attempted to repair some consoles. And other times they determined that replacement of console with new console was needed if repair was not feasible.
As for this deal it is a new situation and Microsfot has learned that image is more important then cost in recent events. (thank you SOny)

So Funny... when thelensoftruth puts out a comparison that doesn't favor PS3 then the Fanboys rant that it is a lousy sight. But when you finally get a pro PS3 comparison then they flock to the sight saying they have been vindicated.

Good point on the multiple accounts thing. If they give some form of purchase credit then that would allow for those that had multiple accounts to come out ahead of those that didn't.
Is there not a way to determine actual user/owner of each account via that personal data they let out of the bag? Seems like that would have been the way to go now...?
It's not for free... it is called compensation... thus it was paid for by whatever greivance required the compensation. So basically was the offered compensation worth the 3 week down time, loss of personal information, and loss in faith in Sony security over all? Each person needs to judge that for themselves.

I think that the selection is a good variety and it does blow for those owning the items already. Only thought I could have seen that would be better would be adding a coupon system that would allow them to spend an equal amount of funds on any purchase in the store.

So if 4 million people played it and Sony is referencing 77 million users (though we know the actual user base is lower) then that would be that only 5% of the users played it, half that for inFam...

Not actually... just another story trying to compare apples to oranges. Nobody is saying that PSN being down is like the apocalypse, (other then those trying to make a point) but the point that the article is trying to make is that there are other things in the world that are much worse to the situation players are currently in.

Phantasy Star Universe was a rip-off. Cost $10 - $15 a month to play it. No game even if it is a MMO is worth $120 - $180 a year.
I don't understand how people pay for DC Universe, that is the biggest scam. It costs $60 to buy the game which comes with 1 month free play @ $15 a month you basically paid $45 for a disk with the data you needed to get online and play.
I am trying to think of what Games have Copyright saves? Is this a PS3 thing only? Does it not allow you to play games from one system to another on some games or what?
I am pretty sure that I can transfer all my games from one system to another on my 360. I had transfered 1259 game licenses to my new 250gb system along with 82 video licenses. The only thing it wouldn't transfer over was 24hr video rentals... of which I had none.

Sony needs to take control and run all the servers as Microsoft does to start with. Having numerous uncontrolled networks masked to your server is a nightmare. Also the single Gamertag identification is huge... too many alias tags will allow for disassociation with friend networks, social suicide.

Obviously you have no idea about how MS system works. Other then a few developers(i.e. EA), xbox online system is closed and stricttly ran through their private servers.
Sony on the other hand relies primarily on each developer to host their own servers. A developer goes out of business and you could be looking at loosing servers for their specific game.
