It's funny. If resolution, graphics, etc. don't matter, why is it that this article about Direct X12 coming to Xbox got over 1000 degrees and over 250 comments, with very few, if any, arguing that resolution doesn't matter? http://n4g.com/news/1469562...
Wait. You mean people tend to compare devices that are similar and in direct competition with each other? Get outta here!
Do you notice how console owners don't feel a need to remind handheld players that consoles have better graphics, nor do they butt in during debates about which handheld has better graphics, or which phone has better gaming graphics? Yeah.
"Where are the plethora of articles saying review scores and sales don't matter?"
Exactly. Take KZ:SF for example. Why should the opinions of some critics, who represent an insignificant fraction of gamers, matter? Yet, the same crowd screaming that resolution doesn't matter will try to dump on KZ:SF because of mediocre reviews. And where are these reviews coming from? Mostly people no more qualified to review a game than anyone else. I thought Roger Ebert g...
Remember that this is a user run site, and the mods are just other users. That's a ridiculous thing to get banned for, but, without naming names, I know I've gone at it with some that, in my estimation, have more of an interest in protecting MS than fairly moderating.
Update: And since MS is now owning the name themselves, hopefully those not even on the payroll relax about it.
This is how it was for me, and, I think, most other people. I first recognized "Xbone" as an abbreviation, and only later considered how it could be applied with a negative connotation.
I've used Xbone, Xbox, XB1, etc. Honestly, I've used Xbone less, and I now fault myself for playing to a bunch of crybaby, faux victims, who would probably have a greater reaction to me saying Xbone than if I started hurling around racial slurs. Bigpappy has opened my eyes. ...
I also wonder how much of this would even be an issue had MS not tried to institute policies to screw over the consumer, and had hardware that wasn't held back by a multimedia focus. It seems MS, and some MS defenders, have that on the back of their minds when they get upset with calling the system Xbone, in which case they should be mad at the direction MS went in, but they won't acknowledge that.
That was ridiculous and embarrassing. MS has done a good job of getting a segment of its fans to internalize criticism of MS. It defeats the purpose of competition when you have people in the trenches for a company, because they won't push the company but shill for them no matter what they do.
He said it still looks good, but still, $30 for what's effectively a demo? I don't think I want to set that trend, even for Metal Gear. I think I'll wait for a bundle deal with the main game, or a price drop. Who knows, this could be a good candidate to be picked up by GWG and PS+ eventually.
Nope. It's just been happening so much that it lost its shock value.
Exactly. People have been saying that about VG in just about every article I've seen, even the ones where the PS3 is beating the XB1.
You have some sensitive souls here who want to falsely cry hypocrisy, because they need just about any and every victory they can get.
I see a bunch of the same comments, that VG under-tracks Sony, as the other article. Could it be that once you're down to one bubble, for trolling, subsequent offenses result in lowering the number of comments you're able to read?
His comment isn't inconsistent with his previous position. Read it over, carefully.
If all you care about is gameplay, go roll some dice while playing Dungeons and Dragons.
They look the same to me. Oh, wait. That was the exclusive content.
Killzone: Shadow Fall.
Don't believe me? Show me a game on either system that has sold more, then show me the hardware sales for that system.
Come on, son. Why did you even do that to yourself?
@DadXVI
You make it a point to waste one of your two bubbles saying that, all the time. Why don't you scoop up those units and make a profit? Amazon re-sellers only go about as low as $500 and I just hopped over on Ebay and saw one going for $1,000 with 20 bids, and bidding set to close by the time I type this.
Actually, even when the PS4 is leading I see comments slamming VG, so don't pretend like some hypocrisy is going on. The dig on VG has always been that it slants the numbers as much in favor of MS as they can get away with, even when they have Sony ahead.
Update: In fact, if you look through my comment history, you will see that I've made a couple of comments using VGChartz for a reference, and in each comment I say that the usual disclaimer applies. I don't even...
Took back the US and UK? What? No. According to VGChartz, they did slightly better in the sales period that was February 23 to March 1st. They are still losing in both of those territories. If you don't have it, you didn't take it back.
"Sony fan boys can try and deny that all they want, but bottom line if Microsoft wants Something bad enough, they have the cash to make things happen."
So I guess they haven't wanted to come ahead of Sony in any gen, because they have yet to do it.
@fermcr
Steam Machines aren't home consoles. They aren't even one product. They're an attempt to appeal to console gamers with pre-built gaming rigs. That's it.
Update:
Hey, I get it though, man. You're desperate to get PC into a conversation on this site. What, with the usual cycle of N4G PC gaming news going something like, "Rumor: PC may be getting GTA V," "GTA V to be released for PC this year?" &qu...
